In chapter 331 of My Hero Academia, the top American hero Star and Stripe constructs a huge version of herself out of air that she is able to control with her willpower. It’s understandable that readers of My Hero Academia were under the impression that America’s top hero Star and Stripe had already accomplished the most horrific thing possible with her World Order quirk when she successfully caused the air surrounding All For One to evaporate.
However, the heroine has recently demonstrated in Chapter 331 that she is capable of manipulating the air in an even more disturbing manner. Even while an official translation of the original Japanese text has not yet been released, fans’ interpretation of the wording is that Star and Stripe solidifies the atmosphere around her into a giant version of herself that is 1,000 times her true size and that she can control.
She can make any movement with her actual body, and her larger duplicate will mimic that movement. And she has the ability to hit her opponent with a big punch, clap her hands together, and slam her opponent with a laser that she condenses into some sort of spear. The New Order quirk of Star and Stripe allows her to impose a rule on herself or another object as long as certain criteria are met, including the fact that she must touch the object she intends to control before she declares out loud what she wants her quirk to accomplish.
As previously revealed in earlier chapters, Star and Stripe’s New Order quirk allows her to impose a rule on herself or another object as long as certain criteria are met, including the fact that she must touch the object she intends to control before. To declare her decree in either of the circumstances above, Star and Stripe had to first grip the air surrounding her and then declare her edict.
This is due to the fact that names and identities are quite intricate, which is why she concentrates her attention on the air. The Star and Stripe failed to enforce a rule against All For One since she referred to him as Shigaraki earlier in the episode.
All For One feels this is due to the fact that anybody she targets with her quirk must identify themselves as the person she refers to them as, which she believes is the case. By referring to her intended victim by the incorrect name, she invalidates the reality she wishes to change. Air does not have an ego, which allows her to effortlessly manage it and other inanimate objects as long as she views them in a specific way.
However, there are still numerous questions concerning this procedure that have not been solved. In the process of developing her new rule, Star and Stripe merely declares, “The atmosphere shall solidify to become 1,000 times the size of my body.” However, this does not explain how it appears to be her or how she is able to control it. Perhaps this is simply a translation issue that the translators for Shonen Jump will be able to correct before the official release of the manga.
Instead, something along the lines of “The atmosphere shall solidify into a form of me that is 1,000 times my size and that I can control” would have made more sense. This is a terrifying ability regardless of how you look at it, and perhaps fans will pay attention to the official release when it is released to see what she really says.
As previously stated, Hitoshi Shinso’s Brainwashing ability, which allows him to manipulate anyone who fall prey to his influence, was unquestionably the most intricate aspect of My Hero Academia until the arrival of Star and Stripe. While his quirk’s concept is terrifying and a crucial part of what distinguishes Brainwashing from the competition, what distinguished it even more, especially at the time, was the fact that not only Hitoshi but also his victims had to meet a slew of requirements in order for certain effects to manifest themselves.
Obviously, this puts Hitoshi at a disadvantage (especially when his opponents discover all of his quirk’s secrets), but also added a level of intricacy to the series’ battle system that was severely lacking at the time, particularly when compared to other manga series. But at the very least, Star and Stripe’s New Order is now available on My Hero Academia.
