Sunghoo Park, the director of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime adaptation, has revealed that he originally intended to begin the anime adaptation with the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prologue narrative. It’s possible that the beginning of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime could have been very different. As reported by Twitter user @soukatsu_, director Sunghoo Park originally wanted the Jujutsu Kaisen anime to begin with the storey of Yuta Okkutsu. However, this was changed after a message from the director was recently translated by the user.
“When I first took on the role of director, I intended to start the TV anime series with this captivating storey and its fascinating beginnings in Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Tokyo Metropolitan Technical College,” Park explained. “It was my original intention to do so,” Park added. Instead of starting with the prequel narrative, the anime series ended up starting where the main Jujutsu Kaisen manga also begins: with Yuji Itadori’s initiation into the realm of sorcerers and curses, as was originally planned.
The prequel tale of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is now being made into a film, which will have its world premiere in Japan on December 24. This magnificent source material has been transformed into a cinematic film, and the production team is doing everything they can to ensure that lovers of the original work will be satisfied,” Park said, adding, “Please come watch it in theatres on the night that it is released!”
Sunghoo Park has been involved in the anime business for about two decades. In addition to his role as a major animator on Yuri On Ice, he also directed The God of High School, a 2020 Korean webcomic translation that received critical acclaim for its sophisticated combat choreography and animation.
Park directed the first season of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime series and is currently in the process of directing the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel movie, which will be released in 2019. “Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School,” which Park mentions in his remark, was the subject of a manga written by Gege Akutami and published in 2017.
In addition to being the first narrative set in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe, the miniseries introduced many of the characters and concepts that would later be developed in Akutami’s main series, which was initially released approximately a year after Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School was completed. In response to the success of the series, Akutami’s initial miniseries was retrospectively titled to Jujutsu Kaisen 0 to better reflect its position in the series’ timeline of events.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 narrates the narrative of Yuta Okkutsu, a young man who made a vow to his childhood friend, Rikka Orimoto, that the two of them would marry one day. The storey is told through the eyes of Yuta Okkutsu. In the end, Rikka dies at an early age, and, to make matters worse, her spirit has transformed into a Curse, a spiritual creature that now stalks Yuta and does harm to anybody who comes too close to him. Yuta isolates himself from the rest of the world because he does not want to put anyone else in risk.
The life of the tortured young guy, on the other hand, is transformed forever when he meets a sorcerer named Satoru Gojo. The first season of Jujutsu Kaisen is already streaming on Crunchyroll and Funimation, and the second season will be available soon. A release date for the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 film in countries other than Japan has not yet been set.
