It is a tournament between the strongest high school students in South Korea to find out who is the strongest of them all for 17-year-old Jin Mori, who is also a talented martial artist from Seoul. Whoever is named “The God of High School” will have their wish granted by the company with no further questions asked.
Anime distribution and streaming services were bound to start adapting original content at some point, especially with the volume of new anime produced and imported on a regular basis. Crunchyroll will release its first slate of original programming in 2020. “The God of High School,” a fast-paced martial arts animation from Webtoon based on the same-named manhwa by Park Yongje, was one of the shows debuting at Anime Boston.
The 13-part first season, which incorporated MAPPA animation (“Yuri!!! on Ice,” “Attack on Titan”), was well-received when it originally aired. Fans are already considering about the probability of a third season, and are eagerly awaiting news. Here’s all you have to know about “The God of High School” Season 2, including a release date.
Who Will Make a Comeback in the Second Season of the Original Series?
No official word on a second season, but given the stories of the anime, we can speculate who might return if/when Season 2 is announced. The story of Jin Mori, a 17-year-old high school student who turns out to be the 1,000-year-old god Sun Wukong, is told in “The Deity of High School” (The Monkey King). Actor Tatsumaru Tachibana is anticipated to return for a second season if one is made.
Hence, it makes natural that Han Daewi (Kentarô Kumagai) and Yu Mira (Ayaka Ohashi), Mori’s two pals who compete in the anime’s central competition, would return. Daisuke Namikawa plays Park Mugen, the series’ major antagonist, while Koki Uchiyama portrays Park Ilpyo, one of Japan’s best boxers. Park Mugen, who is portrayed by Daisuke Namikawa and serves as the show’s major antagonist, is another character you might see in a second season of “The God of High School.”
No new cast members have been confirmed for Season 2, but expect to see some familiar faces. We’ll keep you updated as new cast members are announced.
Are You Excited for the Second Season of God of High School?
The 1st season of “God of High School” features a substantial story arc. The end of Season 1 sees Taek (Kenjiro Tsuda) become a god, transcending humanity and releasing powers on Mori and his friends. By becoming the Monkey King, Mori’s memories are unlocked, allowing him to remember that he is in fact a celestial god rather than a high school student.
With this information in hand, he can utilize his staff Ruyi Jingu to fight Taek, who has now transformed into a monster. The God of High School competition is won by Mori after he and his friends help him defeat Taek. Afterwards, he utilizes his desire to help Ilpyo’s injured pals get better by granting their wishes.
While the main story arc of the season came to an end in the finale, there is a hint of what’s to come next. Towards the end of the first season, Daewi and Mira tell Mori that he must return home in order to regain all of his memories as a god. Because of this, it’s safe to assume they’ll be visiting the world of the gods in season two.
When will the second season of God of High School be released?
The success of the show and whether or not there is any more source material to adapt are two factors to consider when renewing an anime series. Because “The God of High School” is based on a comic that is currently being published, there is plenty of material from which to take inspiration.
As a result, the anime was well received and continues to draw new fans. It’s safe to infer, then, that “The God of High School” will make a comeback at some point in the future. Sadly, there is no official statement on whether or not “The God of High School” will be renewed for a second season. Consequently, no one knows when new episodes will appear. The 1st season will premiere on Crunchyroll toward the end of summer 2020 and will air every week until September of that year. In the grand scheme of things, it isn’t that long.
If a renewal is announced this winter, we can expect a new season of ‘The God of High School’ to begin in July 2022 and end in September 2022.
