A new cinematic story trailer and campaign details for Call of Duty: Vanguard were revealed in a blog post on the Call of Duty website.
Vanguard’s story begins in the present tense and places players in the shoes of a new Task Force One Operator on a mission to infiltrate a heavily equipped U-boat complex in Germany during World War II.
There’s Axis intel about something code-named Project Phoenix locked away in the facility, and Task Force One must get it before it’s smuggled out. Nazi Officer Hermann Wenzel Freisinger, the game’s principal adversary, is in charge of Project Phoenix.
The campaign’s primary goal is to relive the memories that made the five members of Task Force One who served with the Operator legendary on various fronts during World War II.
There are four people on the team: Private Lucas Riggs from the North African Front, Lieutenant Wade Jackson from the Pacific Front, Lieutenant Polina Petrova from the Eastern Front, and Sergeant Arthur Kingsley from the British Army’s 9th Parachute Battalion, who is the team’s captain and commander.
The parent business of Call of Duty: Vanguard publisher Activision, Activision Blizzard, is currently embroiled in a protracted legal battle over allegations of sexual harassment, pregnancy discrimination, and retribution as a result of a prevalent “frat boy” culture.
Activision Blizzard is embroiled in legal battles with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (CDFEH).
