The highly anticipated second season of the famous shounen action anime Tokyo Revengers will debut in the spring of 2021. It’s only been a few months since the first season concluded, but fans are already itching for a follow-up. How long before we see more of this show?
The manga series Tokyo Revengers, by author Ken Wakui, was adapted into the anime Tokyo Revengers in Japan. It took Studio Liden Films 24 episodes from April 11 to September 19 to convert the manga into an animation for television.
Muse Asia and Crunchyroll obtained North American and Asian broadcasting rights to the program, which was lauded by fans for its vivid character design and engrossing plot.
Tokyo Revengers will have a second season, right?
Neither Liden Films nor the anime’s publisher Kodansha had announced a second season renewal at the time of this writing. Tokyo Revengers did not have a season 2 following the first season’s conclusion like many other shows.
A new season of anime may be renewed for years in advance since the choice is based on many variables. Thanks to certain key characteristics, it’s easy to tell whether or not it will have a new season:
Is there enough content for Tokyo Revengers Season 2?
There are 24 collected volumes of Wakui’s manga published by Kadokawa under their Weekly Shonen Magazine, with a new volume coming out every 3-4 months on average since the serialization started on March 1, 2017. It concluded on “A Cry Baby,” which was the 73rd chapter of the first season of anime.
For the time being, there are enough volumes of original material to cover another 24 seasons of television. The series is also still continuing strong with new volumes being released on a regular basis, so having a sequel is an added bonus.
The Blu-ray/DVD Discs of Tokyo Revengers are also selling very well. In its first week on sale, the August 2021 BD volume one sold 29,42 copies. 2 weeks later, the follow-up BD volume fared considerably better, selling 3616 copies in its first week. The third volume had a sales record of 4292 copies sold, while the fourth had a sales record of 4,513 copies sold.
