Inspired by a series of Japanese light novels written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah, “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” or “Tensei Shitara Suraimu Datta Ken” is a clever isekai who consciously subverts the various common tropes of the genre. It revolves around Satoru Mikami, a 37-year-old Japanese company employee who has led a quiet and undifferentiated life. One day, while out with his colleague, Satoru is stabbed by some assailant. As he dies, Satoru hears an enigmatic voice ricocheting through his head. Once he becomes aware, the general awareness comes slowly. He discovers that he has been reborn like a slobber in a new world. He also discovers that he has acquired certain abilities, including that of “Predator”, with which he can mimic anything he consumes. He becomes friends with a disaster-level “storm dragon” called Veldora and finally begins to do something he hadn’t before: live his life to the fullest.

Spoilers That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
In the finale of the first season, a woman, just before her death, calls out a demon in revenge for the wrongs she and her husband have suffered. Shizue remembers going to Filtwood Kingdom with other adventurers to face a demon there. But when the adventurers realize that the demon has already killed two other adventurers, many of them try unsuccessfully to leave. It is later revealed that the dying woman at the start of the episode was half of the adventurers who were killed in Filtwood. The woman summons Kuro before his death, which easily destroys Filtwood’s demon. The episode ends as Kuro watches the protagonist Rimuru (name given to Satoru by the dragon), and wonders how their next meeting will be.
