In order to experience true nostalgia, you must reunite with your old friends. Netflix announced today that four of the film’s original cast members will be returning to California to film Beverly Hills Cop: The fourth instalment of the action comedy series starring Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley has finally been released, and it’s been a long time coming. The film’s storyline specifics are being kept under wraps, but the streamer revealed that Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, and Bronson Pinchot will all return. The Internet was awash with rumours about the reunion of the four original cast members, especially when fans released images from the shoot.
But it was unclear whether or not they would appear again, and now the streaming giant has confirmed that they won’t make appearances. Considering this declaration, it seems likely that Axel Foley (Murphy) would engage in friendly banter with his fellow police officers, much as he did in the first film series. Moreover, the streamer introduced two major new cast members back in August. In the first two Beverly Hills Cop films, Paul Reiser played Foley’s partner, Jeffrey Friedman. The actor has been nominated for 11 Emmys, but his breakout role as Dr Sam Owens in Stranger Things has brought him widespread recognition.
Reiser recently reprised another one of his classic roles, this time opposite Helen Hunt in the eighth season of Mad About You. Sergeant partners Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) were played by the actors. In the 1980s and 1990s, Reinhold featured in a number of critically acclaimed films, including Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Gremlins, and Ruthless People. In recent years, Ashton has been in the hit movies Gone Baby Gone and Once Upon a River. Finally, Bronson Pinchot has recently been seen on a Netflix series as well, in the role of Principal George Hawthorne in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
In the 1980s and 1990s, he starred in several groundbreaking films, including Risky Business and True Romance. Mark Molloy, who has directed a number of TV commercials, helms his first feature picture in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley. Will Beall, who also authored the script for Justice League (directed by Zack Snyder) and Aquaman (2018), created the screenplay for the film. Beverly Hills Cop was penned by the late Daniel Petrie Jr.
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley’s release date, trailer, and full cast have not yet been announced by Netflix.
