The premiere of the three-episode arc of ‘Andor’ has been pushed back until September

A three-episode premiere of Andor was originally scheduled for August 31st but has now been moved back to September, according to Diego Luna, who appeared on Good Morning America this morning to commemorate what would have been Andor’s debut month. The prequel series to Rogue One will premiere on Disney+ on September 21st. Andor takes place in the early days of the Rebellion when Cassian Andor discovers that he has the power to alter the course of the galaxy.

In accordance with the series’ official description, it “tells the story of the people and worlds who joined the growing revolt against the Empire. Cassian’s journey to becoming a rebel hero will take him through a period of peril, deception, and intrigue.” Consider the first three episodes’ writers and directors for some context. The first three episodes were directed by Toby Haynes and written by showrunner Tony Gilroy. The streamer may have opted to provide a three-episode debut event since the first three episodes are so intertwined. Along with Luna and Forest Whitaker, who will reprise his role as Saw Gerrera, Genevieve O’Reilly, who played Mon Mothma, will also return to the show.

Many new characters have been teased in the teaser but have yet to be confirmed in the official cast announcements, including Adria Arjona’s and Robert Emms’ portrayals of Kyle Soller, Denise Gough, Fiona Shaw, and Robert Emms. The 12-episode first season will also have episodes directed by Ben Caron and Susanna White, in addition to Haynes’ initial three episodes. It was Gilroy who was called in when Stephen Schiff walked away from the show prior to production start.

Schiff, Dan Gilroy, and Beau Willimon, who penned episodes for the first season, are all named as screenwriters for an unspecified future episode. After its premiere, it was revealed that Andor would be running for two seasons and that the second season will begin production later this year. It has been announced that Andor’s three-episode launch event will now be streamed exclusively on Disney+ on September 21.
