Netflix has renewed the third season of ‘I Am a Killer.’ Release Date & Cast Details

I Am A Killer, Netflix’s hard-hitting, dramatic real crime series, will return for a third season, Deadline reported today. Two seasons’ worth of ten-episode episodes has taken us inside the walls of America’s most high-security prisons, where we’ve learned about the pasts of those awaiting execution for crimes they didn’t commit. After almost three years since the second season premiered, the news of the show’s comeback has been a long time in coming. There will be more tales to tell & lives to be altered when Sky Studios’ Transistor Films signs its names on a visitor’s list and passes through jail security to contact its interviewees in Season 3.

This pattern will repeat itself when they sit down with each prisoner and ask them about their life, the crime that put them there, the motivations and driving forces behind their conduct, as well as what they think about it now that they’ve served their time. Season 3’s six-episode run will be a departure from the previous two seasons, which had eight episodes. In the first several episodes, the show has done an excellent job of presenting all sides of the iconic death row inmates. Some inmates seem to be content with their current situation, and one even revealed that they had murdered their own cellmate in order to get there.

People who regret their conduct or stick by their fight-or-flight reasons for ending up in prison have also come out to tell their stories. I Am a Killer: Released was the result of one of those stories. In 1990, Dale Wayne Sigler was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a Subway employee in Texas, and he spent the rest of his life in prison until his release in 2013. Over the course of three episodes, viewers witnessed Sigler’s return to the outside world, where he was welcomed by both those who agreed with the court’s verdict and others who disagreed.

There was also a book written by Danny Tipping, who founded Transistor and co-executive produced I Am A Killer along with the series offshoot. Earlier this year, the book went on sale. As of late August, Netflix will be airing the third season of I Am A Killer, which is a real crime series about a serial killer.
