Summary of Chapter 290
In Episode 290 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, titled “Presence,” Shikidai and Inojin try to keep Kawaki and Boruto away from the sensory-type shinobi they had set up as a watch guide. In the meantime, Shikamaru expresses his worry that Amado is beginning to suspect the larger scheme they are pursuing. Using a Shadow Clone, Eida sneaks out of the house at night to observe Kawaki fool everyone with the chakra-erasing jutsu. Boruto, however, gets the impression that Kawaki has departed, so he sends Naruto after him. Code and Eida must now arrange to meet, as Kawaki has already departed. Eida tells Code to head towards Kawaki in the woods by using Claw Marks, and Code teleports there. Ino, who can keep up with the Sensory Team in their search for Kawaki, is the one Naruto goes to in order to tell Shikamaru about the issue.
As Boruto can tell where Kawaki is simply by being in the same room with him, he decides to follow him. Code and Kawaki ultimately cross paths, and Code demands to know why Kawaki keeps disappearing. Kawaki says that he is aware of Code’s single-minded goal of eliminating him due to his role in Isshiki’s demise. Code comes clean and says he plans to become a tsutsuki deity as per Isshiki’s wishes. Code had just picked up Kawaki and was on his way to deliver him to Eida when he was ambushed by Boruto. Boruto has now figured out that Kawaki used him as bait to attract Code. Kawaki was subsequently reprimanded for placing himself in harm’s way, he said. Kawaki doesn’t want Naruto to follow Boruto’s chakra, but that’s exactly what Code is glad to hear. Kawaki tells Code he has to talk to Code’s supervisor. Boruto tries to dissuade Kawaki from going and promises to keep Kawaki safe at all costs.
