It is further complicated by the arrival of the other graduating heroes, who report that Deku and Shigaraki have just fled the U.A.’s air stronghold. Toga and her Twice Doubles have been defeated, so now is the time to concentrate everyone’s long-range assaults on All For One. Tsukachi, meantime, gets in touch with Hawks to find out more about the newly arriving troops. Tsukauchi claims that Shiketsu High was on its way to him even before he asked for it. He also recalls a time when heroes weren’t as advanced as they are now when the world was riddled with the disorder, exploitation, prejudice, blind fury, and distrust. Whirlwind is Inasa’s counterattack, and he explains to All For One that he’s rooting for Endeavor and Todoroki because he knows that courage can be found in adversity and that fierce emotion will always win out over timidity.
All For One answered the heroes’ attacks with a barrage of Rivet Stabs in the hopes of stealing any peculiarities that would provide a way out of Inasa’s wind cage. Inasa gets slashed in the face by a Rivet Stab, but he doesn’t seem to care since, when the wind blows, his peculiarity becomes even more evident. All For One may have had a storied history, but Inasa says he would rather see the future fashioned by the individuals he supports. On hearing this, Hawks recalled what he had said about One For All being a network of power connecting people’s hearts and that every time the light faded, another hero would come along to reignite it, continuously giving each other hope. All For One says it’s useless since the heroes are afraid of him snatching their powers if they go too close. When he was going to declare the end of the world, he felt an incredible weight on his back.
It was Tokoyami’s Black Shadow at full strength, and at that moment All For One understood why he had felt so nervous the first time they met. Tokoyami screams that Dark Shadow has swept in and piled up gloom in all its forms, from the thick clouds that have obscured the sun to the smouldering embers that have destroyed the forest.
