Synopsis of Episode No. 286
Sasuke’s Story concludes in the anime series Boruto: Naruto Next Generations with Episode 286, titled “The Ring.” Fighting off several creatures, Sasuke uses a Meno in a genjutsu to make his way to the observatory. Sasuke also learns that Jiji is Zansul’s partner in crime. Sasuke finds Sakura buried under the debris and uses his jutsu to rescue and treat her.
Sasuke’s Meno protects Ganno and the other convicts from the creatures within the prison. The rescue mission is complete, and Sasuke and Meno travel to Zansul. Zansul’s boss, the prime minister, has been caught by Kakashi and the new monarch, according to a message sent by Sasuke’s messenger hawk. Zansul’s attempt to escape from Sasuke ends tragically as the flying beast he is riding dumps him to his death. Sasuke removes fragments of Zansul’s body and delivers them to Sakura, who has Jiji bound with a jutsu.
Sasuke’s suspicions are confirmed when it is revealed that Jiji is not working for Zansul. Jiji admits that he was once a renegade shinobi from the village of Hidden Sand. He was asked to join Redaku’s Army and it was then that he met Margo, a royal servant girl and the lady he would later fall in love with. However, Jiji left during the pandemic which ultimately claimed Margo’s life. In exchange for Jiji’s assistance in building an army of dragon beasts, Zansul promised Margo’s reanimation after her death. Sasuke then tells Jiji that the information he had heard was false and that Margo is still alive. It’s revealed that Zansul’s former prime minister, who Margo is informing on, is being aided by Nanara. Jiji protects Sakura as monsters close up around them. Sakura tends to his injuries in exchange for this favour. When Jiji and Margo finally get back together, they begin working for Nanara. However, Kakashi has returned to the Leaf to report that the operation was a success. The story then flashes forward to the current day, where Sakura and Sasuke are wondering the same thing.
