No spoilers have been released for One Punch Man Chapter 179 as of yet, but it appears like we’ll be getting Saitama vs Tatsumaki in the upcoming chapter, which is going to be nuts because I can’t imagine ONE and Murata would hold back as they did with Saitama versus Boros. To put it another way, even if you have read the comics before. As for what is going to happen between them, well, Tatsumaki realistically can’t really do anything big to Saitama; at her 110 per cent, she might be able to do something that might sort of amaze Saitama, you know, the way that Boros kind of impressed him maybe.
But don’t think for a second that she’ll get him to agree to something so out of this world for Boros. If Saitama were as powerful as he appeared to be against the Cosmic Garouin space, then the sequence of events in this chapter’s test of strength would have gone differently, right? In my head, the series would benefit from raising the stakes by having Saitama’s “power level” reset when he fused with Saitama from the future, much like his memories. If his strength is so great that he could sneeze Jupiter away, then the idea of someone on par with Boros is now completely meaningless. However, who knows, maybe she’ll chuck Saitama into space.

Summary of “One Punch Man” Chapter 178
Towards the end of the chapter, there’s a funny scene with Forte, Butterfly DX, and Chain’n’toad, and it makes me wonder where their plot is going and why ONE is focusing on them so much now. I’m assuming ONE is here for a very specific reason, and I can’t wait to find out what it is (even though I realise I’ll have to wait at least a decade to find out). Next, we return to the main plot, with Saitama confronting Tatsumaki head-on and seizing her by the wrist. After Tatsumaki vanquished the joker guy from Tsukuyomi in the last episode, this happened. This chapter also features Psykos. In addition, Tatsumaki had one of her episodes in which she almost directly pseudo-killed the Fabuki Group before being stopped by Satama, and Saitama’s whole purpose is because of Tatsumaki. In a technical sense, she wrecked his flat, so he has some serious problems with her. He is also attempting to diffuse the current situation, but that is secondary.
Then Tatsumaki telepathically shoots Saitama, creating a massive crater in the wall, yet this has no effect on him. I think this is the first time Tatsumaki has felt Saitama’s full might, and her reaction is understandable. She gives him another chore, but this time it’s so intense that the crater ends up being kilometres across, and she keeps going at Saitama with what Fubuki claims is her complete force, effectively switching his muscles over as he describes it. Saitama then shouts to Fubuki, “I will do something about Miss Stubborn, so you take everyone here and evacuate.” Oh! you are quite familiar with her sister, aren’t you? This sets off Tatsumaki, and she responds, “You aren’t.” This is exactly how Tatsumaki would respond if they saw someone being kind to Fubuki, which is why I enjoy the scene so much; it’s no secret that Tatsumaki is highly protective and jealous of Fubuki. When Saitama tells Fubuki that he is merely an acquaintance to her, it’s like crushing her.
Tatsumaki, meantime, wonders why Saitama would become so needy for someone he hardly knows. I think this is laying the groundwork for a romantic connection between Fubuki and Saitama at the story’s end; I realise this may anger some of you, but I firmly believe it to be true. When they first met, the stage was set, and now, I believe, these events are only planting more seeds for their future together. If the series is going to have any romance at all, it will probably be something like this. So Tatsumaki is like, well, she’ll put him to the test to see whether he deserves to have Fubuki hanging over him like that. She increases her psychic strength, sending shock waves throughout the Hero Association and affecting even the newly arrived wealthy residents.
They’re obviously in trouble and pointing fingers at Metal Knight, but she’s exerting so much force that the basement is really warping to accommodate them. Until Saitama says, “Okay, if you’re going to do this, then we have done it outdoors,” at which point he takes her and bolts out of the Hero Association in true Dragon Ball Z fashion, bringing them to a new place to continue their battle. The Chapter concludes with Fubuki declaring, “Saitama and Big Sis, it’s begun,” which is pretty much an admission that the two have already started fighting. Think about Saitama going up against one of the strongest characters in the show. I really hope that ONE doesn’t kill off Tongue Stretcher, who we haven’t seen since his “fight with the King,” so he can return for the next comic segment.
