My Hero Academia Chapter 379, titled “Hopes,” picks up at Central Hospital not long after Kurogiri’s activation. Because of the heavy downpour, everyone, friends and opponents alike, worked together to get the injured into the hospital. In spite of her mortal wounds, a healing Lady Nagant at the moment plans to travel to wherever the enemy is. The only difficulty is that she has no knowledge of where they are. The doctor refused to tell them where the bad guys were since she knew she was dealing with an escaped felon. But in actuality, Lady Nagant only wants to join Deku in combat. Rock Lock, thankfully, seems to take full responsibility for Lady Nagant’s conduct and reassures the doctor that she is free to go. And he helped Lady Nagant out by telling her where UA was and where the enemy was. If Lady Nagant’s heart is prompting her to act for the young lad, Rock Lock says, the heroes will fully mobilise based on their confidence in Deku.
Now, on the roof of the hospital, Lady Nagant has just one more chance to kill Shigaraki after she shot him despite suffering a massive recoil. She was once tainted by the shadows and had lost hope in the light, but then Deku and Hawks came along to restore her trust in the goodness of the world and give her a renewed sense of purpose. As the bullet rips off Shigaraki’s arm, Lady Nagant presses the trigger, risking everything to go to Deku. Feeling the sting of Lady Nagant’s gunshot, All For One cries in anguish within Shigaraki. After killing her fellow heroes, Lady Nagant plays the victim like some noble agent of justice, but in truth, she is a weak pushover who drifts in whatever way the wind blows, which is why he calls her disposable garbage. Shigaraki’s fingers suddenly extend from the mouth of All For One. In light of All For One’s failure to exploit Lady Nagant’s sensitivity and depth of character, Shigaraki can only chuckle at his efforts.
In addition, he makes fun of All For One, saying that the latter deserve their misfortune since they are continuously putting their fingers where they do not belong. Shigaraki admits that he buried his own core within his soul, despite the fact that All For One may be able to utilise his body and soul to steal One For All and fuel his raging wrath. To this end, All For One issue a shout to Kurogiri, explaining that Shigaraki’s body is no longer under his control and that Kurogiri must thus warp him to his other identity. Thoughts are all over the place for Kurogiri as he stammers, saying again and over that he would defend Shigaraki, while Oboro’s true nature emerges. Shigaraki says he doesn’t need One For All and challenges All For One on his confidence that he can handle everything by himself. In contrast to the other villains, Shigaraki admits that he has a kind heart and that everything he saw in the world contributed to the creation of the home in which he was raised.
In that instant, Shigaraki severed ties with All For One and made it clear that his main goal now, as Shigaraki Tomura and Tenko Shimura, was the annihilation of anything and everyone associated with that family. Shigaraki stared Deku square in the eyes and hurriedly explained that the one thing that could save him was also the one thing he had to hope for. To the shock of Gentle and Lemillion, Deku grabs Shigaraki and pulls him out of UA. Now that Shigaraki has his eccentricities back, Deku knows he has no business fighting atop that tomb. Deku, at the end of the chapter, says that he can’t let Shigaraki do whatever he wants, but he also can’t pretend he didn’t observe Shigaraki sobbing inside.
