Synopsis of Episode 1049
Luffy began Episode 1049 riding Momonosuke in his dragon form, but they have yet to go into the air. The two get into an argument about Momo nos uke’s phobia of heights, but they decide to take off anyhow. On the other hand, Momonosuke admits that he has no idea how to land when they are near Onigashima. Due to this, the two are forced to stray from their planned route and instead go through multiple levels of the Skull Dome on their way to the roof.
A rematch between Yamato and Kaido is featured in the episode, with Yamato reiterating her trust in Luffy and her determination to play the role of Oden and rescue Wano. Since Ace is no longer alive, Kaido responds, Yamato has no friends and no one to defend. This causes Yamato to grow noticeably uneasy, leaving them vulnerable to strikes from Kaido. But now that Luffy is finally reaching the rooftop in Snakeman form, Yamato rises up and prepares a counterattack. Moments later, as the episode concludes, the two strikes hit Kaido simultaneously.
Speculations
The promo for One Piece Episode 1050 suggests that Momonosuke and Kaido will have a confrontation in the upcoming episode. As the trailer shows, Luffy has reverted to his original form and will not be continuing his fight with Kaido in this episode. Fans should instead watch Yamato and Momonosuke join forces now that Gear Fourth has rendered him useless for 10 minutes. It appears that the episode will inform viewers of the status of the other key battles and activities involving the Straw Hats in the Skull Dome.
The scene in which Brook carries Robin over a scorched landscape raises suspicion that someone is pursuing them. With CP0 on the island, they may have Robin in their sights. A conclusion to the conflict between Momonosuke and Kaido is also expected in the last moments of One Piece Episode 1050. Fans may be assured that Momonosuke will have gained the upper hand by the time the dreaded “To Be Continued” sign appears, even though their conflict isn’t likely to be resolved in a single episode.
