Regarding Episode 1049
New episodes of One Piece air every Sunday, and while the anime is moving at a little slower pace than the manga, it never fails to keep us on the edge of our seats. We have a lot to discuss, including Yamato’s anger at her father Kaido and the latest developments with Luffy and Momonosuke. As an adult and a massive dragon, Momonosuke and Luffy eventually reunite and plot their return to Wano. Whereas Yamato continues to be driven by a need to transform into Oden and confront her father. Even though there have been several conflicts in previous episodes, the one that everyone is waiting for has not yet begun. With Momo, his gigantic pink flying dragon, in tow, the major fight in Onigashima is about to begin, and Luffy is headed for the rooftop to prepare for it. Kaido and Yamato’s battle, meanwhile, has reached a critical stage.
Past Events on “One Piece Episode 1048”
Yamato and Kaido’s duel from the previous episode, “For the Future Yamato & the Great Swordsmen’s Pledge,” resumed, with Kaido attempting to demotivate Yamato by saying that Luffy would not return. They tried to convince Yamato that this was a family conflict, but Yamato did not accept it since they still hoped Luffy would return and because they had severed all ties to their biological family when they assumed Oden’s identity. As the struggle progressed, they began trading increasingly forceful strikes, and the intensity level rose. A cut to Luffy and Mononosuke reveals that the latter is having trouble flying due to his fear of heights, delaying their return to Onigashima. The scene then shifted to a flashback of a younger Yamato trying to release Wano with his first use of Conqueror’s Haki. Therefore, the guards of Kaido captured them and put them in jail.
Even while Kaido admired Yamato’s skills, he refused to recognise them as Oden. After Oden’s execution, a rebellion broke out, and three Daimyos were captured and imprisoned in the same cave. Kaido was extremely cruel to the inmates since he only provided them with a single meal. Oden’s diary was read to the Yamato at dinner, and the Daimyos also provided training and freedom. They risked their lives in the battle against Kaido so that the others may emerge from the cave safely. To bring things back to the present, the episode concluded with the intensity of the struggle increasing.

The conflict between Yamato and Kaido has become more heated with each new episode of One Piece, but it appears to be nearing its conclusion. The audience also witnessed Yamato’s encounter with three legendary warriors from his youth, which was shown in a flashback. However, things are tough between Luffy and Mononosuke since the latter cannot fly until he overcomes his phobia of heights. The future episode, however, will hopefully show the duo arriving at their target.
Review of Episode 1048
At the outset of One Piece episode 1048, the focus was on Kaido playing mind tricks with Yamato by constantly reminding them that Luffy would not return and the Raid would be pointless. But Yamato wouldn’t have any of it, so Kaido pointed out that they aren’t related and that when Yamato took on Oden’s identity, he cut all links to his own family. Momonosuke’s phobia of heights makes it impossible for him to fly as a dragon, further delaying their return to Onigashima.
The episode then took viewers back in time to see a young Yamato wield Conqueror’s Haki for the first time. As punishment for their defiance, Kaido threw them in jail and gave them the Oden name. After Oden’s execution, the three Daimyos of Wano rose up in revolt and freed, fed, and trained Yamato in One Piece episode 1048. Before escaping the cave and fighting Kaido to ensure Yamato’s safety, they gave her Odden’s notebook. After yet another present-day battle between Kaido and Yamato, the show abruptly concluded.
Typical Events for Episode 1049
The trailer for One Piece episode 1049 suggests that Luffy will go back to Onigashima. Fans are given something to look forward to when they witness him and Momonosuke plummeting into the flying island. The teaser cuts off before we witness their arrival back to Onigashima. There are more wonderful moments to come from that battle, though, as the trailer shows further talks and conflicts between Yamato and Kaido. Both Kaido and Yamato wear solemn looks, which may be a subtle indication towards the end of their relationship brought about by Yamato. At the very least, Zoro and Sanji’s relationship will be addressed in One Piece 1049, if the preview is any indication. It would make sense to provide fans with modest updates on each character and their clashes given the importance of their remaining battles versus the King and Queen in the Onigashima Raid.
On January 29, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. JST, the release of One Piece episode 1049 is scheduled. After last week’s exploration of Yamato’s history, viewers’ expectations shifted from anticipating Luffy’s return to hoping that the show would maintain its focus on Yamato’s battle against Kaido. Momonosuke’s difficulties in transporting Luffy back to Onigashima are contributing to the shift in expectations. Due to the availability of verified spoiler material for One Piece episode 1049, it is presently impossible to tell if this will be the case. At least now fans know when to expect the much-anticipated episode to air.
