Despite spoilers being widely available online, readers of Boruto were nonetheless eagerly awaiting the publication of chapter 77. It has been revealed through raw scans of the upcoming chapter that Kawaki’s actions will have a profound impact on the tale and will highlight a darker side to his character. It’s no secret that, since Kurama was killed, the karma user has been obsessed with defending the Seventh Hokage and has become a devotee of Naruto. This article summarises and analyses the events of Boruto chapter 77 to show how Kawaki is becoming the adversary he initially seemed to be in the post-timeskip scenario at the beginning of the series. Linda’s strength as an ally is demonstrated in this episode of Boruto, and Daemon finally gets to meet Himawari.
In an attempt to harm Boruto, Kawaki makes a move
Kawaki appeared in his karmic form, looking glum, on the cover of Boruto chapter 77, titled Time Drawing Near. Kawaki demanded that Momoshiki expose himself at the end of chapter 76, and this new chapter picks up exactly where that left off. Even though Boruto did his best to calm the elder guy down, he insisted on talking to the Otsutsuki himself since he was afraid Momoshiki may overhear their conversation. Amidst all the hubbub, Sumire overheard Kawaki asking Naruto whether he was going to condemn him for murdering Boruto. Sarada objected that they were in the middle of a mission and that it was not the time for infighting, but Kawaki said that Otsutsuki didn’t care.
Shikamaru then had a frank conversation with Kawaki in chapter 77 of Boruto, leading Kawaki to assert that his intuition told him Momoshiki was up to no good. The adviser asked Kawaki to take a deep breath and consider his options by bringing to mind Naruto’s reaction to seeing his son’s body. Kawaki eventually agreed to let Boruto go, and the latter excused himself to perform a quick errand. Even though Shikamaru used the Sensory Unit to try to follow Kawaki about, the unit’s analysis revealed that Kawaki had likely concealed his chakra signature. Boruto concluded the elder karma user had used Sukunahikona to shrink himself down since he could sense his chakra but couldn’t determine his position.
The rising army of code
Despite Boruto’s objections, in the following panel of chapter 77, Eida and Daemon leave the home. When Boruto exclaimed that they were not allowed to go, the cyborg brushed him off, telling him to stop telling her what to do. If the village tried to stop her, Eida said she wouldn’t cooperate. Boruto’s mission was changed by Shikamaru, who now wanted him to accompany Sarada and Sumire throughout the hamlet and keep a close eye on them.
Code was subsequently revealed to be waiting in the pocket universe with his expanding Ten Tails army in chapter 77 of Boruto.
A humanoid entity termed “claw grimes” was revealed to be the source of Bug’s apprehension, and it was revealed that Code had given the creatures that resembled humans this name since they were all branded with Claw markings. The failing ship’s code said that he had more than a thousand soldiers available at the moment. He said that if Eida were not in Konoha, he would launch a swift attack, but that he would lose the element of surprise. At home in Konoha, Eida briefed Shikamaru about Code’s scheme and the amount of claw grimes the villain had generated up to that point (though she didn’t have an exact tally).
The adviser timidly inquired as to the strength of the claw grimes, and Eida reasoned that being portions of the Ten-Tails, they could not be feeble. She continued by saying that Code hated Kawaki for taking Isshiki and Eida away from him and that he wished to destroy the village and all Kawaki valued.
The two of them, Daemon and Himawari
The shopkeeper was completely enamoured by Eida, who was experimenting with clothes in Boruto chapter 77 and kept admiring her despite her distraction. The cyborg’s immunity was also commended by Sarada and Sumire, who did not wish to share it. While Daemon rode on Boruto’s shoulders and insulted him, Boruto complained about having to follow the females. As the younger cyborg was griping inside the shop about the lack of warriors in Konoha, he suddenly felt compelled to leave. As she passed, he grabbed Himawari and demanded to know who she was. Boruto intervened and ordered Daemon to stop grabbing his younger sibling.
In Boruto Chapter 77, the suspicious cyborg attacks the youngest Uzumaki before backing off when he sees that the terrified Himawari makes no move to avoid him. He probed her as to why she hadn’t made any efforts to shield herself. Daemon was confused by Boruto’s assertion that his sister wasn’t a shinobi because of his past experience with her powerful aura. Both Daemon and Himawari were thrown for a loop when the blond ninja misinterpreted the cyborg’s interest in his sister for love and affection and began yelling that he would not approve. After Kawaki kidnaps Naruto and Hinata, he and his henchmen move on to other targets.
In Boruto chapter 77, Naruto and Hinata headed to the Uzumaki home to prepare dinner. Just as they were saying how great it would be if Boruto and Kawaki could join them, Kawaki walked in. Naruto apologised for being a bother and affectionately remarked that the two youngsters were quite obstinate. The veteran karma user said the Sensory Unit missed him because it did not take into account his lack of a chakra signature. He continued by saying he had to speak with Naruto. Kawaki started off by reiterating his gratitude for Naruto and his firm belief that the Seventh Hokage had given him a new lease on life. Kawaki, Naruto attempted to explain, has always been a kind guy. But the latter cut in and emphasised that he was willing to do anything, even die, to defend the Hokage.
Kawaki revealed, even to his own astonishment, in Boruto chapter 77, how much his life centred around Naruto. He went on to say that the Otsutsuki who had sullied that planet and endangered the Seventh Hokage’s life would be eliminated. It was clear to Hinata that Kawaki included her son, Boruto, in his description of “every Otsutsuki,” and Kawaki admitted as much when he said he had felt bad after learning of Boruto’s survival. Naruto was taken aback when Hinata slapped him and called him nuts after he vowed he wouldn’t fail this time. Kawaki looked prepared for her response, as he concurred that only a mad person would kill their sibling. After he started thinking this way, Hinata asked her husband to change his mind. In addition, Naruto stated that Kawaki would have to pass through him to get to his son.
Since Boruto’s parents would be unable of carrying out such a murder, the karma-user in Boruto chapter 77 hardened his desire to do so. At the end of the chapter, Kawaki uses his karma to open a portal, teleporting the Hokage and his wife to another realm and promising them that he will gladly let Naruto kill him once this is all done.
A Few Parting Thoughts
The chaos foreseen by Boruto at the end of chapter 75 finally begins in Boruto’s chapter 77. Momoshiki had warned Boruto against promising anything to anybody, even Hinata, because of the elder karma user’s decision. The conclusion of chapter 77 of Boruto also validated a fan idea that Kawaki’s warning to Boruto in the scene after the time skip was a coded allusion to the fact that he had sent Naruto away.

Recap of Chapter 76
The events of the previous chapter continued in Boruto Chapter 76, A Girl’s Sanctuary, where Shikamaru employed Eida’s Senrigan to verify Amado’s intentions. Despite the fact that Amado’s behaviour posed no danger to the rest of the town, Naruto still decided not to get involved. In this chapter, we learn more about the dynamics of the new roommates as Uzumaki Boruto adjusts to living with the Cyborg siblings.
A disagreement emerged, however, when Kawaki accused Eida of using Boruto as bait for the Ten-Tails. Because of this, Eida summoned Sarada and Sumire. Eida invited the other two females up to her room to tell them about her feelings for Kawaki and get their feedback. They simultaneously realised they were impervious to her seductive abilities. Telepathically, they sent the news to Shikamaru, and Boruto heard Momoshiki’s voice. Kawaki had been insisting that Momoshiki reveal himself, and the story ends with his voice still echoing in the background.
Spoilers and leaks for Boruto Chapter 77
Another notable detail is that after Hinata slaps Kawaki in the face for telling her & Naruto that he is going to kill Boruto & that he is not going to hesitate this time, Naruto specifically chooses Boruto and tells him that he is not going to let him kill his son, that he is going to kill him before he does anything to Boruto. This is a major turning point since it explains why this spoiler for Boruto Chapter 77 is getting so much attention. However, it is not the only thing that jumps out in these spoilers. Sasuke is unable to enter the Rinnegan’s dimension, hence he has lost his ability to use it. The reason Naruto lost Kurama is becoming clear now that he has no chance of defeating Kawaki in battle. Everything is starting to click into place now. There’s also a notable scene in this chapter when Ada realises that Code is assembling a Ten Tails Army; we don’t know the backstory, but it’s clear that Ada has made this connection.
Since Ada hasn’t yet cut on her Senrigan and witnessed precisely what it is that Code has been doing, all that discussion in the past about individuals like this being a plot hole is, well, a plot hole. Ada has finally found out what went wrong. Thus, this is another case when it would have been preferable to wait and see before fussing and yelling that something is a plot hole, as it was eventually addressed. Since Boruto is a monthly manga, fans have plenty of time to speculate and second-guess the story’s progression, unlike with weekly comics, where fans sometimes have to wait until the following week to see a resolution to a problem they raised the weekend before. Ada has been at Konohagakure for two chapters now, and this one will make it three. Seeing it now makes sense, given her background. Even though it took a long time to get here, I’m glad we finally got to see it since Ada informed them that the Ten Tail Chakra was used to create an army of soldiers.
Interesting since we don’t know how Code is expanding his army, but we do know that he’s spending time strengthening his fortifications, a tactic that draws on the 48 Laws of Power and The Art of War. And thus, once more, we see Code’s development as a villain. What we’re seeing so far is promising, and I appreciate that little nugget you just said. Now, the second striking feature of this chapter is when Daemon first encounters Himawari, and many readers exclaim, “Oh my God!” That Daemon and Himawari will soon be a couple. But there’s something else we need to keep in mind: Kishimoto threw a wrench in our plans by subverting our expectations, which means that while many people may have wanted Daemon and Himawari to get together, that outcome is no longer possible. Himawari is basically set up like Kid Gohan, where all the clues were there from the beginning that Gohan had that immense strength trapped within of him, and where Goku tells Master Roshi that he needed to train his son but Chichi would not let him since the world doesn’t need warriors.
At the time, Gohan was only three years old, but Goku already saw tremendous potential in him. It makes a lot of sense that Himawari is a direct descendant of the Hyuga Clan and the Uzumaki Clan, as we have seen the indicators that she possesses tremendous power within her. Both of her parents gave Chakra to the two offspring of Kaguya, therefore it is in her blood. Daemon’s response to Boruto’s “my sister’s not strong and she’s not a ninja” in this chapter suggests she is still on the fence about whether or not she wants to become a Shinobi, despite the fact that she comes from a highly powerful bloodline. In this chapter, Daemon admits outright, “It was just for a brief amount of time, he sensed a vast force inside of her,” which he experienced as he was racing toward Himawari and ready to attack her, just as his primal impulses were about to surface. that’s fascinating, so there’s that.
It seems that Himawari’s period has been fast-forwarded since she now plays a more significant role in this. I can’t wait to see what Himawari does next. The last item to note is the confirmation of our suspicion that Kawaki has reached a stage in his development when his train of thinking is very similar to that of Sasuke in the first part of Naruto. Sasuke saw clearly what he needed to do; he knew that he had to make some sort of adjustment. Sasuke was extremely intelligent, yet his way of thinking was still somewhat childlike in many respects. In spite of his intelligence, his perspective is still very much that of a child. Kawaki and Naruto are on the same page here because Kawaki is telling Naruto that he changed his life, that he doesn’t think there was any purpose in his life before he met him, and that he is going to do what he needs to do to protect him, and that the best way to protect him is by using the power of the Otsusuki, and that the way he is going to do that is by destroying every Otsusuki that is Although I had hoped Kawaki and Momoshiki would talk more and Kawaki would pick up some knowledge of Kaguya lore, it appears that this is not the case. There are still many missing pieces of context from this chapter. Still, the general concept that Otsusuki and Kawaki’s preoccupation with eliminating them is what drives him to turn on Konoha has been confirmed.
The publication date of Boruto Chapter 77 is set for January 19, 2023.
