Recap of Chapter 88
“The Birth of the Superheroes” begins with a calm scene of Goku, Whis, Beerus, and the Oracle Fish enjoying a meal together on Beerus’ planet in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 88. Peace is briefly broken as they debate the impending danger posed by Black Freiza’s reappearance and the necessity of training to confront him. In this new chapter, Trunks and Goten make their first appearance as the superheroes Saiyaman X-1 and Saiyaman X-2, respectively.
Two teens in their high school uniforms keep an eye out for illegal activities in Mosquito Town’s jewellery section. But their hard work is quickly put to the test when they encounter a band of thieves carrying off their booty. Without thinking twice, Trunks and Goten go into action, destroying the criminals’ weapons. Quickly, the heroes put down the bandits. At the end of the chapter, our heroes arrived as the new guardians of the town by pounding their chests and striking heroic poses to announce their presence. At the end of the chapter, there was a subtle suggestion that the focus might shift away from Goku and Vegeta.

Fear not, though; this is still Dragon Ball Super, so there will be some action. To offer you the ultimate romantic reward from the Future Trunks Saga, I’ve saved the best for last.
A school environment will be used to show fans Mai and Trunks. Trunks will make an effort to win her over with his charisma. Yet that’s not all the chapter has in store for us. The final panel of Chapter 88 hints that Dr Hedo will return with a new procedure. It’s a given that he’ll put Trunks, Mai, and Goten in a tough spot. In addition, this chapter will have connections to the future movie Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. As a result, it’s probable that we’ll see Piccolo, Gohan, and the rest of the cast. Spoilers for the next batch of Dragon Ball Super chapter 89 raw scans show that Beta is a patchwork zombie created by Dr Hedo, as indicated by a spot on his neck. It appears that this has enraged and surprised Trunks. There’s also Mai there, although it’s not obvious if she knows who Beta really is. Yet it appears to be inferred that she is from the visuals alone. Beta then throws a football towards Trunk’s head, but he detects it coming and ducks, sending the ball ricocheting through the hallways of the school on the next page. One day, much to Beta’s dismay (and Trunks’ delight), it collides with a fire extinguisher and bursts, spraying the contents all over Beta. In the last panel, Beta tries to hurl hot soup at Trunks in the cafeteria, but Trunks is quick enough to catch it in a bowl on his tray.

While Trunks watches furiously, Goten avoids the first punch but is caught by the second. After checking the time, he seems to be suggesting to Mai that he change into his superhero suit and assist Goten by asking her to carry his luggage. On the following page, he appears dressed as a superhero and intervenes between Beta’s punch and the patchwork zombie’s attack. Beta initially overpowers Trunks on the final page of this series, crashing into his stomach and sending him flying back. Spoilers for Dragon Ball Super chapter 89, raw scan 4 begin with Beta activating the “B” button on his outfit, which summons a massive mecha that he pilots. Beta fires what looks like a missile from it on the following page, frustrating both Dr Hedo and Trunks. The rocket splashes down near Dr Hedo’s lair.
Then, Trunks is seen engaging in combat with the mecha, landing three punches and a kick that are enough to knock it down and anger Beta. Beta, however, abducts Mai and enrages Trunks in the process. Several additional missiles are fired from Beta’s mecha, although they are noticeably smaller than the first. Beta is now flying the upper half of his mecha away from Trunks with Mai still hostage, according to the fifth round of raw scan teasers for Dragon Ball Super chapter 89. The robot appears to have replaced its legs with a thruster. Whereas Dr Hedo is in a state of fear, Trunks is calmly organising an assault.
The mecha and Beta’s clothing are both destroyed by Trunks’ strike, leaving him in nothing but his underpants as Mai plummets to the ground. Obviously, Trunks comes to her rescue, but his cover may be blown if Mai associates the man before her with Future Trunks. He places Mai down, bids her by, and takes off. Spoilers for Dragon Ball Super Chapter 89’s final raw scan show Trunks and a costumed Goten celebrating their triumph over Beta on the school’s American football field. As the two leave, some of Mai’s and the pair’s pals eye them warily, but the rest of the kids celebrate wildly for their new heroes.
After reuniting with Mai, Trunks reveals that she has developed feelings for the Saiyaman X-1 ever since he saved her. In this context, it’s not obvious if she’s just gushing about him or if she thinks it may be Trunks. In any case, Goten interrupts him and yells at him for trying to disclose his true identity. The scene then cuts to Beta returning to an angry Dr Hedo, who appears to have singled out Saiyaman X-1, X-2, and Mai as his next targets. He presumably whispers an instruction to Beta involving Saiyaman X-2 while issuing an order to Alpha and the other zombies, who shout wildly for their commander. Seeing “X2” among the Japanese glyphs makes this very clear.
On the whole, it appears like Dragon Ball Super chapter 89 is a very action-packed chapter that makes significant progress in the story. In this issue, Mai makes a comparison between Saiyaman X-1 and Future Trunks, which sets up the thrilling disclosure of X-1’s actual identity to Mai in a future issue. The issue appears to be establishing Dr Hedo as the arc’s true antagonist, rather than just another grave robber and squatter in deserted mansions. The issue is strong overall and sets up the future of the book, despite being a very sluggish start to the arc.

Review of Dragon Ball Super: Chapter 88
Trunks and Goten’s relationship develop in this chapter, which is one of the funniest in the whole series. Even though Trunks has a crush on Mai, he lacks the courage to ask her out because he has no interest in becoming a CEO. As a child, Trunks didn’t mind, but as an adolescent, he struggled with social anxiety and a fear of ghosts and females. Given that Goten didn’t spend his formative years in a cave as Gohan did, he ended up being more observant and outgoing than his hermit cousin. When Trunks said he didn’t believe in ghosts, Goten pointed out that he and Trunks’ father were both dead.
Dr Hedo’s incarceration at the film’s conclusion will be depicted in one or two more plot-related chapters. Hedo’s incarceration and Broly’s time spent in Beerus’s organisation will be detailed. Moreover, this entire chapter brings back fond memories of the Great Saiyaman Arc episodes featuring Gohan in high school, and I couldn’t be more excited about that. When they start moving around on the screen, it’s going to be hilarious to watch.

When Granolah finds out via the Heeters that Frieza is still alive, he makes a pact to kill him and revenge his planet. Granolah uses the Dragon Balls to become the strongest fighter in the cosmos, but it comes at a high price. The Heeters set up a trap to force Goku and Vegeta to battle Granolah.
Gas insists that the Granolah must be eliminated, and Maku wonders whether Freezer has already done so. Granolah was penalised despite the fact that he fought back. The strongest man in the world is Gas, as Maku shows thanks to Gas’s request. Gas betrays his cover and takes revenge on unstoppable Granolah. Both Goku and Vegeta enter the fray and end up losing.
