The University of Toronto
The University of Toronto Established in 1827, is a publicly supported educational institution. In the undergraduate programme, around 80% of the institution’s students are enrolled. The three campuses of the university that are located in and around Toronto are St. George, Mississauga, and Scarborough. Over sixty per cent of the university’s undergraduate students and a little over ninety-five per cent of its graduate students take classes at the campus in the centre of St. George.
There are thousands of foreign students at the University of Toronto, representing more than 160 countries and regions. For international students, tuition is more expensive. The university’s academic organisation is divided into sections that focus on particular subjects, such as applied science and engineering, management, and public health. Along with more than 700 undergraduate degree programmes, the university offers more than 200 master’s and doctoral degree programmes. In the educational process, English is used a lot. Each of the three locations has a different academic calendar from the others.
There are alternatives for student accommodation on each campus, and regardless of where they enrol, first-year undergraduate students are guaranteed to house. On campus, there are more than 44 libraries with a combined total of more than 19 million actual books. An important discovery that came from this university is insulin, which was found by scientists at the University of Toronto in the early 1920s. One of these researchers went on to win the Nobel Prize in Medicine or physiology for their work on diabetes, and the university now bears their name in the Banting and Best Diabetes Centre.
The McGill University
The best institution in Canada for the current academic year is McGill University in Montreal, which rose four points in the rankings to tie for 31st. Additionally, 145 Rhodes Scholars and 12 Nobel Laureates are among the university’s graduates.
British Columbia University
Moving on to the top three, we have the University of British Columbia, which is currently placed third in Canada and 45th overall after rising six points in the rankings since last year. The University of British Columbia is now rated 28th in the world for the indicator assessing academic reputation, reflecting its mission to embrace innovation and challenge the status quo.
Montréal University
This year, the University of Montreal has surpassed the University of Alberta to move up to the fourth slot in Canada. The university was founded in 1878 and is a public research institution that speaks French as its official language. It is located in Montreal. Currently, it has 67,350 students enrolled, 10,000 of them are international students.
