Upon reentering the chamber, Boruto only encounters Yatsume, who is under the influence of Rokuro’s parasite. In his pursuit of freedom, Rokuro follows the route to the exit, only to be ambushed by Ouga, a shinobi puppet. Boruto discovers that he and Yatsume are still locked in the second layer of genjutsu when Rokuro’s bug takes over Yatsume’s body, but that they have a chance of escaping. Yatsume, frustrated by his perceptiveness, abandons her disguise and reveals herself to be the genuine Ouga and the ninth Inner of Amado’s cyborg creation Kara. Boruto also realises that he has seen Koji Kashin assassinate Jigen inside the headquarters of the Kara organisation. To aid him in his studies, she tells him that she is the only Inner Amado developed by focusing on improving her cerebral powers rather than her physical ones.
She decided to investigate Jigen more, prompting him to exile her and surgically remove a portion of her brain. After Isshiki died, she started her dangerous experiments on other people in an attempt to revive her own will to live, which Jigen had stifled. Ouga orders Boruto to stab her so that she may break free of the genjutsu and rouse the others, but he hesitates because he fears that the lack of care has left Ouga so frail that even a single stab could be fatal. As the world of genjutsu crumbles around him, Boruto gives Ouga hope that there is still a cause to live. Boruto uses Kiseru’s communications to connect with Team Sarada and the ANBU, where he shares his relief at learning that everyone is still alive. Ouga, in the middle of the chaos of everyone being liberated, runs away to follow her dream, but not before writing a note to Boruto in which she pledges to pay him a visit.
