Season 1 Recap: Tokyo Revengers
Takemichi learns about Hinata’s death at the beginning of the season and is later shoved over the train tracks. However, he somehow survives the accident. Instead, he’s thrown back to his senior year of high school, a full 12 years in the past. With a simple handshake from Hinata’s younger brother Naoto, Takemichi is able to travel between the past and the present. Takemichi’s present-day friend and police officer Naoto advise him to go back in time and prevent a certain pair from ever meeting. Mikey and Kisaki Tetta’s introduction led to a downward spiral in the Tokyo Manji Gang’s moral fibre and the emergence of some very dangerous criminals inside the organisation.
It’s also what ultimately led to the demise of Naoto’s sister Hinata. Despite Takemichi’s best efforts and some quality time with Hinata in the past, he is suddenly teleported back to the present and unable to alter the circumstances of his life. By altering the past, he was able to influence the present. But not in the way that he and Naoto desired. The members learn that the Tokyo Manji Gang has been divided in two. One section was managed by Mikey, while Kisaki oversaw the other. Draken was killed as a result of the war that broke out between the two groups. It’s for this reason that Takemichi travels to the past—to find and rescue Draken.
A battle breaks out between Mikey and Draken, but Takemichi is able to mediate and ultimately save Draken’s life. The next time he visits the present, Takemichi is the head of Toman’s executive team. During this board meeting, Kisaki Tetta was also present. Kisaki had just shown signs of improvement, but then he drugged and bound Takemichi and Chifuyu. Takemichi discovers Kisaki’s involvement, and Kisaki ends Chifuyu’s life with a bullet to the head. He then raises the rifle to his head and fires at Takemichi.
