Recap of Blue Lock Chapter 202
In the opening moments of the chapter, Nagi scores, and then, while Team Z is focused on him, Tsurugi scores as well. Team V scored three goals, bringing the score to 3-0. Upon realising this, Bechara channels his inner beast to inspire the other members of his squad to unleash their full potential and play to their strengths. By dribbling past Mikage and then fooling Tsurugi, Bachira is able to score an unassisted goal. Because of this objective, Team Z is able to perform at its highest level.

Halftime comes and the score is 3–2 after a fantastic goal by Kunigami. The second half begins with Gagamaru taking the first shot, which is deflected by Tsurugi and into the arms of Isagi. Isagi hesitated and Nagi was able to steal the ball. After Mikage is cautioned for a foul on Raichi, Chigiri scores from a free kick with 30 minutes remaining to make the score 3-3 thanks to a brilliant pass into a dangerous position that no one else could reach.

About Blue Lock
Tensions run high and celebrations reach their pinnacle during a football game, making for an exciting viewing experience for spectators. Imagine, then, if the lovely game were to be adapted into a manga or anime. All the excitement of a sporting event, with the bonus of getting to know our favourite athletes on a personal and emotional level. The Blue Lock manga is not your typical sports manga.

It’s different from the typical fare in the sports genre in terms of both tone and plot. Muneyuki Kaneshiro authors the story for this manga series, while Yusuke Nomura draws the pictures. The chapters have been serialised in Weekly Shonen Magazine and collected into 22 tankobon volumes. Eight Bit also makes an anime version of this comic. In October of 2022, the anime first aired.

The plot of Blue Lock
The plot of Blue Lock is summarised as follows. Yoichi Isagi is a junior in high school and a forward on his school’s varsity sports team. After his team loses a game because he passes the ball to a less competent teammate instead of trying to score the game-winning goal himself, a Japanese football training programme invites him to join. Interestingly, the Japanese Football Union launched the initiative following the country’s 2018 FIFA World Cup defeat. For the 2022 FIFA World Cup, this initiative recruits high school athletes and puts them through intensive preparation.

The programme puts its chosen high school football players in an institution called Blue Lock, which is modelled after a jail. Coach Ego Jinpachi has plans to mould one of his players into the greatest striker in the history of the sport. Only one can win the championship, and the others will be permanently removed from the Japanese squad if they don’t. We need to know who it will be.
