To say that things were chaotic in Kingdom Chapter 742 would be understating things significantly. Chaos and unexpected developments have been plaguing the manga for some time. Riboku’s army was surrounded on all sides, and when Kanki’s army arrived, they were unprepared.

Even though Kanki had already been fooled by his foe, he came up on the battlefield anyhow to cause even more confusion. More and more of Riboku’s composure eroded, and he eventually shut down mentally. However, the high spirits of Riboku’s troops encouraged him to lead once more. The problem is that Riboku anticipated this as well and summoned a monster that could easily exterminate the local population. As the battle progressed, someone with the might of a troll entered the fray, pushing the already depleted Zhao army to its breaking point. Riboku has no answer, so he can only respond to whatever comes his way, which may not end well.
About Chapter 743
In Kingdom Chapter 743, Riboku’s premonition is correct, and he must bear the full weight of the repercussions. Before anything else, he had to face the stupidity of trusting Kanki when he knew better. This is when Kanki’s mastery of deception really shines through. Kanki had done an outstanding job of reducing Riboku’s army and causing him a great lot of harm. But the battle between them has only just begun, and Zhao’s army is doing everything it can to protect Riboku. Recent events have gone in the complete opposite direction from what Riboku had planned. His sanity and empathy lead him to the conclusion that Kanki has lost his desire to fight and is heading in an unstable direction.
Kanki remained a threat, but Riboku’s desire for a peaceful future for the country made that unlikely. In order to ensure the safety of the castle’s inhabitants, Riboku dispatched a small force of his army there. Or if something did happen to them, they would have become complicit in the Kanki’s plan. Kanki does make use of them; but, not in the way Riboku had planned.

Kingdom Riboku’s shining moment will come in Chapter 743 when the conflict reaches its climax in the struggle for domination. As an enemy, Kanki exemplifies the adage that “war is a game of inches” because of how sudden and unexpected events are. Riboku’s shield was the only thing that kept him alive in the face of impending disaster. The priority for him was always her safety, therefore he had to contact her back. The battle situation appears steady and manageable at this point.
The last sentence in the final chapter. Kanki was hit by an arrow while he was trying to calm down and take stock of the situation. If this arrow lands, it will turn the course of the war and maybe the series. However, it’s difficult to predict the outcome in light of how chaotic things have become. We can only predict that Riboku’s situation would worsen in the upcoming chapter.
