The new release date has been announced, and with it comes information on the new arc’s major characters and a summary. A few reliable Twitter leakers, including Anime News And Facts and Shonen Jump News Unofficial, broke the story first. Now, due to a legit magazine ad, we know the rumours were true: Dragon Ball Super will be back with Chapter 88 on December 20.
The next chapter’s poster was also unveiled, giving readers a preview of what to expect in the next story arc. On the front, you can see Trunks and Goten, and the caption reads, “A new chapter has started. Are they maybe superheroes?” Gohan and Piccolo are seen at the bottom, with Goku to their right. Although Gohan and Piccolo will have significant screen time in the forthcoming arc, Goten and Trunks will continue to receive the most attention. We will be seeing what happens before the battle between Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 as well as Piccolo and Gohan in this arc, as it serves as a precursor to the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie.
Fans will be on edge for a few more weeks until we get to watch our young heroes go on their new adventures, but in the meantime, they may marvel at Freiza’s new Black Form from the conclusion of the Granolah The Survivor arc. The next few chapters will likely centre on Freiza in her new, more formidable, and wicked form.
New Updates for Chapter 88
After a long delay, Dragon Ball Super Chapter 88 will finally be out, and it seems to have some new aspects. Multiple teasers featuring Goten and Trunks as teenagers dressed as superheroes have been posted online over the previous few days. The rumours of a new arc being near proved to be genuine. The manga has opted to explore a different perspective on how the Z Fighters would cope with threats, abandoning the typical “Goku and Vegeta take on X menace” formula. The offspring of Goku and Vegeta will be the centrepiece of Dragon Ball Super Chapter 88. New storylines will begin with Dragon Ball Super chapter 88, as previously announced. This arc, dubbed the Super Hero Arc, will centre on Goku and Vegeta’s offspring, Goten and Trunks. The Super Hero Arc is confirmed to be Dragon Ball Super’s first foray into the realm of superheroes. But the anime will take a different approach than the film did. They’ll get to see Goten and trunks as superheroes saving the day for the city. Because of this, we now know that it occurs before Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
A poster advertising Dragon Ball Super episode 88 features the two dressed like Great Saiyaman. Both are dressed in grey and white suits; Trunks has on a scarf (like Future Trunks) and Goten is wearing a cape. Close inspection reveals that they are both wearing the same style of the wristwatch, which reveals who styled their clothes. Both characters have been absent from the show for quite some time. Neither their whereabouts nor their activities could be ascertained. Their last known assignment was guarding Android 17’s island before the Tournament of Power. They disappeared shortly after that. But with the new Super Hero Arc, they should make a comeback, this time as adults and, of course, considerably more powerful. Given their dads’ accomplishments, it’s logical to presume the two were involved in some sort of training. It will be intriguing to find out what became of them in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 88. It was clear from the beginning that both Goten and Trunks were two young Saiyans with tremendous promise.
Surprisingly, they transformed into Super Saiyans at a young age. They were also able to do the Fusion Dance admirably. But over the years, they gradually receded into the background. They have their moment in the spotlight in Dragon Ball Super chapter 88. As Goku and Vegeta’s successors, they will eventually take over the role of leaders. Dragon Ball Super chapter 88 and beyond will also have prominent cameos by Gohan and Piccolo, as confirmed by the manga. Their functions have yet to be determined, but that will change soon.
When Will the New Dragon Ball Super Arc Begin to Air?
Originally written by Akira Toriyama, the Dragon Ball Super manga will be released in 2023 by Shueisha’s V Jump magazine. On December 21, 2022, however, the start of a whole new Arc—a sort of chapter—was made in the comic. They finished their dance routine as the credits rolled, but the audience didn’t get to witness the end result. As a result, the Dragon Ball canon lacks a definitive illustration of a mature Gotenks.
Dragon Ball Super manga will pick up with a new narrative arc after a brief hiatus. The official website for the series has confirmed that more episodes will be coming soon. The final week of December should see the release of Chapter 88. The manga has been published in V Jump, a Japanese magazine, for many years. You may get the most recent chapter translated into English at Viz Media. Goten and Trunks are teenagers in this new narrative who grow up to become superheroes.
There was a clue regarding the forthcoming Dragon Ball Super manga arc in the announcement. There were images of both Goten, the offspring of Goku and Chi-second Chi, and Trunks, the kid of Vegeta and Bulma, shown prominently on the main page. So, naturally, they’re both decked out in superhero attire, foreshadowing a new genre of fashion.
Where Does This New Arc Take Us?
A recent tendency in Dragon Ball has been to highlight characters other than Goku and Vegeta, and the unveiling of the Arc continues this trend. It wasn’t lost on anybody that Piccolo and Gohan were the show’s major protagonists, and they got a lot of praise for doing so. The cast of Dragon Ball is vast and varied. It would be fantastic if future stories featured more secondary characters, like Goten and Trunks, who haven’t gotten much attention thus far. Goten and Trunks are teenagers in this new narrative who grow up to become superheroes.
That puts this story before the events of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero did a good thing by ageing up the two main characters. Make them a part of the final showdown with Cell Max. Unfortunately for Gotenks’s fans, who were hoping to see more than his flabby deteriorating state, they fused in the end.
