Numerous readers have drawn comparisons between Egghead and Sabaody Archipelago after reading Chapter 1069 of One Piece. When it comes to references, Eiichiro Oda is unrivalled. Don’t forget that 25 years is a long time for a television series. Oda may draw on a wealth of material from his history while writing about the present. From what we can tell in One Piece Chapter 1069, both Egghead and Sabaody have a similar framework.
Since their first meeting with Kizaru before the time jump, the Straw Hats have progressed significantly. As of One Piece Chapter 1069, however, they are no longer a green crew of pirates. Luffy and his crew may have finally found their chance at atonement in Egghead. The plot has never been more interesting than it is now.
By the end of Chapter 1069 of One Piece, Egghead and Sabaody share many characteristics. In Chapter 1069 of One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy and Rob Lucci are at odds with one another. The surviving satellites of Vegapunk’s empire are in danger, therefore the CP0 agents have been dispatched to eliminate the threat. With the Straw Hat in their way, though, they have a tall order ahead of them. Sentomaru is now overseeing the security measures for Egghead as well. The Seraphim garrisoned on the island reported to him. By the conclusion of the chapter, however, Lucci has knocked him unconscious, making it highly probable that CP0 will assume control of the robots. Now the Straw Hats will be battling on all fronts.
Kizaru, meantime, has been sent out from Marine Corps headquarters. After the events of One Piece Chapter 1069, the formidable Admiral will make his way to Egghead. It goes without saying that several recurring figures from the narrative of the Sabaody Archipelago have resurfaced in recent events.
Such arcs have striking similarities.
Readers have pointed out the parallels between Egghead and Sabaody, including Twitter user @MysteriousBran1. The first story arc might be thought of as the New World equivalent of the second. The events in Chapter 1069 of One Piece are compared to…
The Straw Hats had to battle a number of Pacifistas and Seraphims, and Kizaru, Sentomaru, and Kuma all play significant roles.
With the World Government on their side, the pirates have no chance.
Regarding this, the events of the Sabaody Archipelago occurred late in the first part of the series. The Egghead arc, on the other hand, occurs in the last epic, which essentially wraps off the plot. Both of these arcs are effectively bookended by One Piece Chapter 1069.
The arcs are distinct, however.
The Straw Hats’ trip to the Sabaody Archipelago was a total washout. They were already too frail to take on Kizaru and the Pacifista, let alone Bartholomew Kuma. However, as of One Piece Chapter 1069, it is no longer the case. During their two years of preparation, the Straw Hats put in a lot of work at the gym. Luffy is more than prepared to battle Kizaru, thanks to the enhanced potency of his Devil Fruit and his refined use of all three types of Haki. On the other hand, the rest of his team has gotten a major improvement. They should present CP0 and the Seraphim with a significant challenge.
Maybe this is the arc when the Straw Hats turn things around for the better. They are no longer fleeing from imminent danger. Instead, this might be their opportunity to make amends for the past. In any case, it’s gratifying to witness their development over time.

On Thursday, December 8, scanlations of One Piece Chapter 1069 were made available, bringing with them a very intriguing (though unofficial) problem. The introduction of Rob Lucci’s Awakened form, which looked quite different from his normal self, was one of the most thrilling parts of the chapter. Since the release of One Piece Chapter 1069, when this surprising character design first appeared, many have speculated about the nature of Awakenings and how a user of a Devil Fruit would attain one. It appears that u/nicentra, a member of Reddit, has developed an extremely reasonable and convincing idea as to how Devil Fruit Awakenings functions. More information from the issue is detailed in u/the Reddit user’s idea, which has altered the fan community’s perspective on Devil Fruits. A Reddit user’s 5-minute “throwaway idea” on One Piece Chapter 1069 was welcomed with roaring approval and praise from fans.
The current unofficially published issue of One Piece and the recently finished Wano arc are the sources for Reddit user u/theory nicentra’s regarding Chapter 1069. Using significant details from both halves of the narrative, u/nicentra constructs what might be the most compelling Awakening theory to date. u/nicentra starts out by referencing Kaido’s statement from Wano, which essentially states that an Awakening happens when one’s mind catches up with one’s Devil Fruit. Even if it may be considered a description, they stress how imprecise it is. Kaido’s warning might be interpreted in a variety of ways.
After that, they talk about the mythology surrounding Devil Fruits, which Dr Vegapunk first mentions in Chapter 1069 of One Piece. The issue has not been officially released or translated yet, but a leaked version of the translation shows that Dr Vegapunk essentially says that Devil Fruits are created from the hopes and desires of humanity.
For u/nicentra, it’s clear that Luffy’s Nika Model Human-Human Fruit’s inception can be traced back to the want for independence. Later, u/nicentra proceeds to describe their hypothesis, which is that in order to Awaken a Devil Fruit, one must “embody the original wish that formed the Fruit,” or at the very least, “understand it.” They explain that it wasn’t until Luffy feared the fate of Wano’s people under Kaido’s tyranny that he Awakened his Devil Fruit, showing that his desire to be a liberator was genuine. They go on to say that this may be why “wanting to become an animal” may “regress your mentality,” making Awakening a Zoan Devil Fruit so risky. This might also account for the fact that the Jailer Beasts of Impel Down, the first Awakened Zoan kind shown in the series, never really talked but instead used grunts and other noises as a means of communicating with one another.
Many supporters have chimed in to agree with u/nicentra that their idea is well-reasoned and insightful. These same supporters are also contributing to the development of the theory by elaborating on or extending the ideas stated by u/nicentra. From what I can see, the great majority of the series’ Reddit fandom agrees with this quite plausible notion.
