As of the most recent release of My Hero Academia Chapter 371, readers have gained insight into Shoji’s past as a heteromorph. There may be a good reason why many of the difficulties heteromorphs confront are just being mentioned now, rather than earlier in the manga. Mangaka Kohei Horikoshi had previously hinted at the story’s conclusion, which revealed Deku’s parentage. A similar number of mysteries surrounding the manga were supposed to be resolved at its conclusion. Fans finally got to see the showdown between Deku and Shigaraki before their attention was diverted to the plight of heteromorphs, and many of their questions had already been resolved. The manga was at a pivotal point, making the plot change puzzling. Exactly how does this factor into our understanding of who Deku’s dad is?
Heteromorphism is a possibility for Deku’s biological father in My Hero Academia. Horikoshi has recently turned the story’s emphasis on heteromorphs throughout numerous significant fights in the series. The way the topic is being explored at this late stage in the series may be a sign that Hisashi Midoriya, Deku’s father, is a heteromorph. Currently, the manga is looking at the difficulties heteromorph experiences from Shoji’s point of view. His disclosure of his background to his UA pals was shown in a flashback. He talked about how he was beaten up because of his “impure blood” and how heteromorphs like him were shunned in rural regions. He might have wallowed in the wrongs done to him, but instead, he was focused on the future and doing his best to become the most awesome hero possible.
Shoji confronts Spinner, who has attacked a hospital in an effort to free Kurogiri, in My Hero Academia chapter 371. Spinner has lost his wits in his fight against Shoji since All For One has given him some peculiarities that have made him fight without thinking. This demonstrates how All For One views heteromorphs, in their quest to rescue Kurogiri, as a disposable one-off weapon. Perhaps he had some prior experience with heteromorphs, the kind that would link him to Hisashi. It’s likely that Hisashi Midoriya was a heteromorph with a quirk so powerful that he might damage his own family, given what we know about his fire quirk.
Perhaps this is why he has been gone from his loved ones for so long. This may also explain why neither Izuku nor Inko seems particularly concerned by Hisashi’s departure; they may already be aware of the sacrifice he was making on their behalf. It’s also conceivable that Hisashi avoided Izuku and Inko so that they wouldn’t have to deal with any prejudice on account of Hisashi’s heteromorphic look. While it’s possible to bend the truth, it’s also possible that All For One eliminated Izuku’s peculiarity in the past. Hisashi Midoriya could have made a deal with All For One to have Izuku’s deadly quirk removed, if only so that he wouldn’t have to work under him. This quirk might be identical to the one that killed Izuku’s father.
Hisashi may have chosen to go through this trauma if he didn’t want his son to experience the same difficulties he had. Although this may be a stretch, it explains why My Hero Academia is centring its plot on a group of heteromorphs at the moment.
