Deadline has exclusively reported that Katelyn Rose Downey (The Princess) and Anna Popplewell (Susan Pevensie in The Chronicles of Narnia) have joined the cast of the next Conjuring sequel, The Nun 2. Deadline claims that Popplewell will play Marcella, the single mother of Sophie (played by Popplewell), but that no further specifics of their characters’ roles in the film have been disclosed as of yet. Both actors join previously revealed cast members Taissa Farmiga (returning as Sister Irene), Storm Reid (The Invisible Man), and Bonnie Aarons (returning as the title character) in the film. Michael Chavez, who previously directed The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, is set to handle the next film in the series. Screenplay by Akela Cooper (Malignant Writer) (with modifications by Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing).
The film will be produced by Peter Safran of The Safran Company and James Wan, who directed the previous two Conjuring movies. Both Gary Dauberman and Michael Clear will be executive producing this. Although the sequel’s specific plot is still a mystery, we do know that it will be set in 1950s France and include the return of the demonic titular monster, who will wreak havoc in a brand new way. Fans of the franchise still have time to speculate about the picture until it arrives on September 8, 2023, providing spectators with a new dread. We should expect more details about the film to emerge as development continues. The Nun’s initial appearance in The Conjuring 2 scared viewers and quickly became a fan favourite, with some even calling her the film’s best aspect. Due to the character’s success, The Nun, a spinoff film released in 2018, starred Aarons once again in the title role.
Even though it was met with mixed reviews from reviewers, “The Nun” went on to become the highest-grossing picture in the Conjuring franchise. With a new instalment on the horizon, horror fans can look forward to more of the same heart-pounding fear from their favourite series. On September 8, 2023, the widely anticipated sequel to The Nun will debut in cinemas.
