Season 2 of “Baking It,” Synopsis, Cast & Release Date

Peacock is getting ready for the season of baking with the return of the popular Christmas reality competition Baking It. Season 2 will see Maya Rudolph reuniting with her former Saturday Night Live castmate and friend, Amy Poehler, who will be filling in for Andy Samberg. In anticipation of the next holiday baking competition, new episodes will be released weekly on the streaming service beginning on December 12. Continuing the rivalry between Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman. The eight teams of skilled home bakers featured in Making It, Baking It competes in a holiday-themed cooking-off during the show’s holiday season.

While Rudolph and Poehler give comic commentary, contestants are put through their culinary paces in a series of themed challenges. When the teams’ desserts are ready, they’ll be presented to a panel of expert tasters: a group of grandmothers. Season 2 introduces a new group of competitors who will attempt to win the $100,000 prize through “explosions, instruments of devastation, and shattering cakes” during the course of the five-part series.
An NBC holiday special based on Baking It will run on the same day as the season premiere to benefit a variety of charities.

In the show, Rudolph and Poehler invite their famous pals to compete with them in a tiny baking competition to benefit a charity of their choosing. It will air tonight at 10 p.m. Eastern Time. While Poehler has been involved with the show before as an executive producer, her new role as host will provide her even more opportunities to joke about with and complement Rudolph. They’ve worked together on a number of other projects besides SNL, such as Wine Country and Sisters, in which they were joined by their fellow sketch comedy colleague Tina Fey.

Even yet, this will be their first appearance on a reality show together in their whole lives. They both bring a lot of comic experience to the table, and their chemistry together will make for a great show. “Baking It Season 2 is the season’s cosiest cooking competition!” Poehler and Rudolph cried out in a joint statement. “This season has it all: the Grannies; inventive baked goods; silly songs about butter; cash rewards; best friends; family; and did we mention butter? More thrilling yet is the fact that we’ll be hosting the entire season together.”

Nicolle Yaron, Pip Wells, Kate Arend, and Dave Becky are the other executive producers on the show alongside Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph. The show is co-produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio, Paper Kite Productions, and 3 Arts Entertainment. Starting on December 12 (the same day as the premiere of the celebrity special on NBC), new episodes of Baking It Season 2 will stream weekly on Peacock.
