It seems that one mutant’s perspective was presented in My Hero Academia Chapter 370. The leaker first made it look like both Spinner and Shoji experienced a flashback in the same chapter. However, this may no longer be the case if the official statement provides further details. Kohei Horikoshi surprises the reader with the way he presents this chapter. The authors of My Hero Academia Chapter 370 aimed to give the impression that Spinner was reminiscing. It turns out that Mezo Shoji was the only mutant forced to leave his homeland at the end of the chapter.
Twitter user @tangroro made a very interesting observation about My Hero Academia Chapter 370, pointing out that it was actually Shoji’s flashback and not Spinner’s. At the beginning of the chapter, a random lizard appears, leading one to believe that Spinner is having a flashback. The context strongly suggests, however, that this was indeed Shoji’s recollection. In the first flashback, you can see the river. In the final flashback, the reader may make out the same river if they look closely enough. Many readers assumed that it was Spinner’s own head that they saw in the first flashback. Unsurprisingly, it was shown to be Shoji’s property. Since the manga is in black and white, distinguishing between Spinner’s and Shoji’s hair is also difficult. The 370th chapter of My Hero Academia is a fine example of the genre’s effective use of this format. If it weren’t the case, it would be harder to fool manga readers.
The way Horikoshi organised his recollections was quite deliberate. Chapter 370 of My Hero Academia is not a sneak peek into Shoji’s flashback in upcoming issues. Now, at that very moment, readers were receiving a sneak peek. If Spinner really was forced to flee his hometown, his actions may make more sense. However, the flashback belongs to Shoji, and it’s evident that Horikoshi intends for the readers’ affections to be with him. Tellingly, Spinner has no idea what he’s doing in this chapter. In contrast, Shoji understands exactly what’s happening. In the end, this is his battle to win. More significantly, he is going to show the mutant community the true definition of heroism and villainy.
The story’s focus has shifted to the political struggles of mutants
Studio Bones’ continued departures from the original material are highlighted by Chapter 370 of My Hero Academia. Unfortunately, when the Meta Liberation storyline was turned into the anime, a lot of Spinner’s past and the Creature Rejection Clan were left out.
It’s easy to see why some viewers were dissatisfied: these are pivotal characters in the mutant politics storyline.
Obviously, Studio Bones may have needed to cut costs, and Spinner may have seemed like a low priority. Regardless, Chapter 370 of My Hero Academia highlights a recurring topic throughout the series. Regardless of the calendar year, there is always a chance for progress. Both Shoji and Spinner demonstrate that the focus should be on the now rather than dwelling on the past.
