You can practically smell the pumpkin pie, and Halloween is right around the corner! This is a great time for fans of scary movies because they are now in the thick of their marathon. Among these is Halloween III: Season of the Witch, a picture that has been beloved by horror fans ever since its first release in 1982. Many merchandise firms with a penchant for the macabre will be commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Tommy Lee Wallace-directed picture in 2022.
Even the guys at Trick or Treat Studios have gotten in on the fun, announcing the release of a new Trick or Treater action figure set based on the movie’s characters. All three figurines in this 1:6 scale action figure set are dressed in their respective masks from the cult movie, which are a witch, a skull, and a pumpkin. The three are dressed identically to how they appeared in the spooky Halloween night montage paired with Conal Cochran’s (Dan O’Herlihy) sinister voiceover. Each figure has two heads included in the collection, one unmasked and one with a mask.
The masks on the movable head are worn and covered with insects and snakes. You can only really understand the awful nature of such a statement after watching the film. For a long time, because Michael Myers wasn’t in it, Season of the Witch was looked down upon by fans of the Halloween franchise. After Michael Myers was killed off at the end of Halloween II, the franchise considered taking an anthology approach. The picture excelled in that respect. This paranoid thriller is set in medieval times, which transports viewers back to the origins of Halloween and witches, and it is terrifying in all the right ways. Great atmospheric directing, several risky plot turns, possibly John Carpenter’s finest score, and an all-star ensemble makes this film unforgettable.
Some of the finest performances in the horror genre were given by Tom Atkins and O’Herlihy. It should go without saying that every October, Season of the Witch is required viewing. Given that its formal 40th anniversary is October 22, this weekend is also a great opportunity to see it. In honour of the occasion, you can pre-order these three unfortunate trick-or-treaters from Trick or Treat Studios’ online store for the low, low price of $299.99. You won’t be let down, as this studio has become the go-to location for all things spooky, especially Season of the Witch apparel. The expected date of shipment for the figures is March 8, 2023. If you can’t wait, Season of the Witch, Halloween III, is available for rent on all the major streaming services.
