Due to complaints from viewers, Netflix has included a disclaimer to “The Crown”

For some time now, Netflix has been preparing to unveil the fifth season of the popular British drama series The Crown. The first trailer for the upcoming Netflix series on the current British royal family has just been released. The new season is more anticipated than ever, but it’s also going through its worst patch yet. The backlash has been directed towards the show because of the increased attention it has received since the death of Queen Elizabeth II and because of the anticipation around the upcoming season’s depiction of the last years of Princess Diana’s life.

Since these have been trying weeks, Netflix has chosen to include a disclaimer in its most recent trailer for The Crown. Netflix has added the following disclaimer to the YouTube description underneath the teaser for the fifth season in an effort to smooth over the stormy reception to the announcement. This fictional dramatization, based on actual events, covers the narrative of Queen Elizabeth II and the political and personal developments that influenced her reign. This disclaimer has not been in any of the series’ prior trailers, however, it has appeared in earlier press announcements.

There’s an obvious reaction to the recent happenings of the new season. The new season has a major plot point involving the new British ruler, King Charles III, and might influence some viewers’ opinions of him. The aforementioned teaser begins right in the middle of a royal family issue. It’s said to illustrate how Diana, Princess of Wales (Elizabeth Debicki), and Prince Charles’s (Dominic West)’s marriage fell apart and how their subsequent divorce came about. Furthermore, the portrayal of the Princess’s conversation with Martin Bashir (Prasanna Puwanarajah) has been met with criticism, yet Netflix stands behind Season 5. A representative for Netflix stated, “The Crown has always been portrayed as a drama based on historical events.”

Series 5 is a dramatization of what could have gone on behind closed doors during a pivotal decade for the royal family, a time period that has previously been extensively covered by journalists, biographers, and historians. Many people, including Oscar-winning actress Dame Judi, have been critical of the most recent season of The Crown. An actress connected to the British royal family has claimed that Netflix “seems eager to bend the borders between historical truth and vulgar sensationalism.”

Sir John Major, a former prime minister, and Oliver Dowden, a former secretary of culture, are among those who have spoken out against the show. Imelda Staunton returns as Queen Elizabeth II, joined by a cast that includes Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Claudia Harrison as Princess Anne, Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowles, Jonny Lee Miller as John Major, Salim Daw as Mohamed Al Fayed, and Khalid Abdalla as Dodi Fayed in Season 5 of The Crown. On November 9, you can watch the first episode of Season 5 of The Crown on Netflix.
