When filming for Agatha: Coven of Chaos begins next month, you may expect to hear incantations accompanied by a few funny one-liners. As she walked the red carpet at the Chicago International Film Festival, Kathryn Hahn, who plays the show’s eponymous witch, dropped a bombshell about the highly anticipated MCU series. Actress Kathryn Hahn says she was “blown away” by the success of her one-off character in Marvel and Disney+’s Emmy Award-winning series WandaVision and that heading into production was “very, very exciting.”
That’s music to our ears, both figuratively and literally, as we anticipate at least one musical number in the future series. After wreaking havoc on Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and the enchanted hamlet of Westview, New Jersey, the Scarlet Witch cast a spell on Hahn’s Agatha in the last minutes of WandaVision, convincing her that she was just another face in the crowd. We can’t wait to see how Agatha, the former keeper of the Darkhold, regains her authority in Agatha: Coven of Chaos, which will likely start up where the previous instalment left off. Although nothing is known about the show’s premise or characters, it was just announced that Emma Caulfield will be returning as Dottie, the mayor’s wife of Westview.
Dottie, who was feared by everybody in town for her meticulous preparation and accurate gossip, was revealed to be the series’ true baddie by use of an infectious jingle. We don’t know what Dottie’s involvement in the new endeavour will be, but we sure hope she joins someone’s coven. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness saw the destruction of Agatha’s cherished Darkhold (a magical book holding the most evil of spells), and you can bet she isn’t going to be thrilled about it. WandaVision chief writer Jac Schaeffer will be joining series regulars Chris Caulfield and Brian Hahn to script the tale and serve as an EP.
Fans have been eagerly anticipating the Agatha-centric spinoff ever since it was revealed in November 2021 as part of Disney+ Day. During Marvel’s panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, it was revealed that the series’ original title, Agatha: House of Harkness, has been changed to the current title, Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Although a release date has not yet been announced, fans may anticipate the new series to take off on Disney+ in the winter of 2023.
