Prime Video’s comedy The People We Hate at The Wedding has been in development for almost a year, and after a few weeks of sneak peek photos, the first teaser has finally been published today, giving us a clearer idea of how the tale will unfold. The story revolves around two siblings who, despite their reservations, decide to go to the United Kingdom to celebrate their estranged sister’s wedding. The first teaser trailer for the comedy depicts a situation that many of us have encountered: agreeing to go to something we know we won’t enjoy. Kristen Bell (The Good Place) and Ben Platt (Pitch Perfect) are very relatable because of their continual eye rolls and expressions.
The mother figure portrayed by Allison Janney, Donna, is shown to be a constant presence throughout the film’s marketing, serving as a reminder that moms are there for their children no matter their age. Even Nevertheless, the trailer for The People We Hate at the Wedding makes it quite obvious that things turn out badly for the main characters; they wind up in jail and the guard feels sorry for them. While Eloise (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) may have come to bitterly regret inviting her half-siblings to her most significant day, for us spectators, it may be one of the most entertaining two hours of the year. Claire Scanlon, the recipient of an Emmy, directs the comedy The People We Hate at the Wedding.
Scanlon has also directed episodes of the television comedies Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Fresh Off the Boat, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. She directed the Netflix romantic comedy Set It Up, as well as the wonderfully interactive film Kimmy vs. the Reverend. The screenplay for Deadpool 3, which will include the return of Marvel fan favourite Hugh Jackman as his breakout character Wolverine, was written by Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin and Wendy Molyneux, who also penned for Fox’s Bob’s Burgers. Grant Ginder, author of the bestselling novels Honestly, We Meant Well and Let’s Not Do That Again, is the inspiration for the film The People We Hate at the Wedding. On November 18, Prime Video will debut the new original movie, The People We Hate at the Wedding.
