The first teaser for the 2nd season of the Swedish adolescent drama Young Royals has been released on Netflix, and it promises a lot of conflict between Prince Wilhelm (Edvin Ryding) and Simon Eriksson (Alexander Skarsgard) (Omar Rudberg). New love and lots of turmoil are in store for the students of Hillerska in the forthcoming season, as teased in the teaser for the show. As the tape opens, kids are welcomed back to a new school year, but Wilhelm and Simon have trouble getting back to their old ways. When Wilhelm’s cousin August (Malte Gärdinger) shared a scandalous film of Wilhelm and Simon, the first season concluded on a dramatic cliffhanger.
Wilhelm’s and Simon’s burgeoning romance was harmed by the leak, and Simon’s life was invaded by bad news as a result. The controversy caused tensions between Wilhelm and his cousin August, and Wilhelm became resolute in his quest for vengeance. As tensions and discomfort continue to mount, Season 2 will centre on how the controversy is ultimately resolved. While August struggles with tremendous guilt, Wilhelm and Simon battle with trust difficulties and the sorrow of being apart.
Sara (Frida Argento) offers August some much-needed support. In the preview, Wilhelm shakes his head and says, “I’m staying” in response to Simon’s “They don’t want you affiliated with me” comment. Wilhelm wonders, “What will happen to us?” as the trailer cuts to a close, while he and Simon embrace. New alliances, scandals, and the potential downfall of the monarchy all bode well for Season 2’s dramatic and entertaining content.
Ryding and Rudberg, in an interview with the Gay Times, said that they are both anticipating and fearing the reactions of fans to the story’s shocking twists and turns. “I had a lot of fun during season one and, ahead of season two, I was really worried beforehand because I had a lengthy period of time when I did not understand why he [Wilhelm] did what he did this season,” Ryding stated. Ryding emphasised that the protagonists and antagonists are “on quite different levels,” adding that it’s “very lovely to illustrate that people make errors and nobody’s flawless, not even Simon.”
The fictitious Prince Wilhelm of Sweden is the protagonist of the Scandinavian adolescent drama Young Royals. He is enrolled in the exclusive Hillerska School.
