Variety reports that Natalie Morales will be joining the growing ensemble of Apple TV+’s The Morning Show. Kate Danton, Stella’s (Greta Lee) best friend at Stanford, will be played by Morales. Jon Hamm, who was cast in the role of Paul Marks in August, will play Marks. Both characters participated in an incubation programme sponsored by Marks. Starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, the show centres on the competition between an established newscaster and a young upstart in the competitive American morning television market. As the show’s main host was fired for his inappropriate behaviour with a female colleague, it also addressed the issue of sexual harassment in the workplace.
Aniston received a Screen Actors Guild Award for her performance in the series, and the show was well received by award groups. Season 2 of the show featured a wide-ranging examination of the fallout from when Alex (Aniston) and Bradley (Witherspoon) went on television to reveal the poisonous work environment at the UBA Network. The episode then shifted gears to the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic while Mitch Kessler (Steve Carell), still on the run from the #MeToo backlash, hid out in Europe. In addition to Abby and White Collar, Morales is well-known for his roles in the Netflix originals Dead to Me and Santa Clarita Diet.
With her future co-star on The Morning Show, Mark Duplass, she co-wrote, directed, and appeared in the 2021 film Language Lessons. Season 3 cast members Aniston, Witherspoon, Lee, Duplass, Billy Crudup, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Bel Powley, Desean Terry, Janina Gavankar, Tom Irwin, Marcia Gay Harden, Ruairi O’Connor, Hasan Minhaj, Holland Taylor, Tara Karsian, and Valerie Golino are all back. Morales is also joining the cast. Hamm, Nicole Beharie, Tig Notaro, and Stephen Fry have all signed up for the new season as regular cast members.
Season 2 guest star Julianna Margulies returns. In January, The Morning Show was picked up for a third season on Fox. Charlotte Stoudt, who is most known for her work on Homeland and House of Cards, will take over as showrunner for the upcoming season, succeeding Kerry Ehrin. Ehrin created and oversaw production for the first two seasons of the show. She will keep working as the show’s consultant.
