True crime enthusiasts, rejoice: Peacock’s anthology series Dr Death has found its directors for a second season. According to Deadline, the season will be co-directed by Jennifer Morrison and Laura Belsey. Morrison will take care of the first four episodes, while Belsey will handle the latter four. Morrison is re-joining the show this season as a director. Two of the season’s episodes last year were directed by her, and their success helped her earn a spot on the show’s second season’s creative team. Morrison has directed episodes for shows including Euphoria, Surface, and more.
Although she has directed several films, she is more recognised for her acting roles in films like Bombshell and television shows like Once Upon a Time. Directing on television has been a primary interest for Belsey. She has directed several episodes of prominent television series during the course of her career. The Walking Dead, Arrow on The CW, and Criminal Minds are just a few of the shows she’s worked on that have gained widespread attention. Her extensive resume spanning all genres attests to her skill in successfully adapting to a wide range of television shows.
Now that she and Morrison have joined the Dr Death team, fans may relax knowing that the film is in capable hands. Season 2 will centre on the charismatic physician Paolo Macchiarini, whose groundbreaking procedures earned him the moniker “Miracle Man.” Benita Alexander, an investigative journalist, soon begins working on a piece on Macchiarini, which alters her life by merging her professional and personal pursuits.
As she discovers the extent Macchiarini would go to safeguard his secrets, a group of physicians throughout the globe uncover their own horrifying findings about the “Miracle Man.” Dr Death is based on the Wondery podcast of the same name. The first season began last year and focused on disgraced neurosurgeon Dr Christopher Duntsch (who was represented by Joshua Jackson) (who was portrayed by Joshua Jackson). Season 2 will be Ashley Michel Hoban’s responsibility as an EP/showrunner. Patrick MacManus, the show’s creator and runner of Season 1, will serve as an executive producer for Littleton Road Productions.
Executive producers include Escape Artists Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, and Taylor Latham, as well as Wondery’s Aaron Hart, Hernan Lopez, and Marshall Lewy. UCP, a branch of Universal Studio Group, is also producing. There has been no announcement regarding casting as of yet. Season 2 of Dr Death is still without a launch date, however, it is anticipated to air in 2023. The premiere season is available immediately on Peacock.
