Let’s go, folks! A new key art poster and release window for the upcoming anime series Trigun Stampede have been unveiled alongside a second teaser for the project from TOHO Animation and Studio Orange. The computer-animated prologue to the hit manga and anime. January of 2023 will mark the beginning of a brand new arc for Vash the Stampede.
Studio Orange, creators of the critically renowned Beastars series, have released a brand new trailer, available for viewing on TOHO Animation’s official YouTube channel.
In the opening of the new trailer, we hear Vash asking someone they have never seen before if they have ever heard of his brother, Knives Millions. Vash then runs into a few old characters, including the return of the fan-favourite character Meryl Stryfe (Sakura Andou), a reporter looking for an exclusive on The Human Typhoon’s antics, and a brand-new character named Roberto De Niro, a grizzled newsman voiced by Kenji Matsuda. Fans are pleased about Meryl’s comeback with a whole new appearance, but she hasn’t been seen with her previous partner, Milly, in quite some time.
The clip sees Meryl and Roberto meeting Vash and getting into mischief in the Gunsmoke deserts, and we also see the return of a familiar face from the original series: Nicholas D. Wolfwood, the crossbow-wielding shooter (Yoshimasa Hosoya). After the first teaser debuted in July during the Trigun franchise panel at Anime Expo, we now have a second look at the forthcoming series. While the official Trigun Twitter page has been releasing concept art to offer fans a taste of the look and style of the next excursion in the renowned world, this teaser is the first time we’ve seen the series in motion since the first revelation. Kenji Muto directs the Trigun Stampede.
A new teaser has revealed that Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Vash), Tomoyo Kurosawa (Young Vash), Junya Ikeda (Knives Millions), Yumiri Hanamori (Young Knives), and Maaya Sakamoto (Rem Saverem) will be joining the previously confirmed cast. Yasuhiro Nightow’s Trigun began out as a manga serialised in April 1995. After two years on hiatus beginning in January 1997, Trigun would return in October of the same year under the new title Trigun Maximum. In 2007, the final episode of Maximum aired. This manga recounts the exploits of Vash the Stampede, a famed pacifist shooter, as he travels to the planet No Man’s Land (also known as Gunsmoke) in the 32nd century.
There was a 26-episode Trigun anime series that aired in 1998, and in 2010, an animated feature film titled Trigun: Badlands Rumble was released. The anime Trigun Stampede will mark the series’ return to the medium after the release of the feature film in 2010. Details on the new series are still few, but it has been reported that Crunchyroll will stream the show live from Japan to more than 200 territories across the world. January 2023 is the projected release month for Trigun Stampede.
