The public will once again be able to celebrate the holiday with Ralphie Parker (played by Peter Billingsley). The new trailer for the forthcoming A Christmas Story Christmas feature on HBO Max has been published by Warner Bros. Pictures. Starting with a view outside the Parker residence, the trailer then cuts to an inside shot that appears to be straight out of the original 1983 picture. Ralphie’s dad (Darren McGavin) won a leg lamp and just enjoyed it, and the shade for it is one of the artefacts displayed within the house. The house’s inside is displayed, and classic words from the original film are also audible.
The sentimental teaser then transitions to an old black-and-white photo of little Ralphie with his pal Flick (Scott Schwartz) and Schwartz (R. D. Robb). The trailer finishes with a shot of a happy, middle-aged Ralphie donning his spectacles. It was confirmed in January that Billingsley will be returning for the A Christmas Story sequel. In the movie, Ralphie strives to recreate for his own children the kind of Christmas he had when he was a youngster. Also returning from the first film are Schwartz, Robb, and Ian Petrella, who plays Ralphie’s younger brother Randy.
Scut Farkus, the bully from the first film, will be played again by Zack Ward. Clay Katis helmed and Nick Schenk wrote the script for the holiday classic A Christmas Story. Filmmaker Bob Clark adapted Jean Shepherd’s novel In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash for the original 1983 version of A Christmas Story, which he narrated as an adult Ralphie. A Christmas Story is still widely considered one of the best Christmas films many years after its first debut. The film is shown for a whole day on TBS and TNT beginning on Christmas Eve. While this will be Billingsley’s first time back in the role since the first movie, there have actually been two A Christmas Story sequels.
My Summer Story, the first sequel, came out in 1994. Clark once again served as director, while Shepherd provided the voiceover, for this sequel. Kieran Culkin starred as Ralphie in the film My Summer Story. In 2012, a DVD edition of the sequel A Christmas Story 2 was made available. It was directed by Brian Levant and stars Braeden Lemasters as a young Ralphie. The film was narrated by the film’s writer and director, Nat Mauldin. Scrooge and the Christmas Tree On November 17, HBO Max will premiere the holiday film Christmas.
