The teaser for the third season of Mythic Quest for Apple TV+ teases a growing conflict between the show’s protagonists. The return date of November 11 was just announced, making it well over a year since the end of the second season. The teaser released today for the next 10 episodes of the critically acclaimed comedy only serves to heighten the already high level of anticipation for the antics to come. The second season concluded with the departure of the show’s fictitious video game company’s co-creative directors and top engineers, Ian Grimm (Rob McElhenney) and Poppy Li (Charlotte Nicdao).
The opening of the trailer shows Ian, as arrogant as ever, and his business partner working together to turn their studio into a financial powerhouse. David Hornsby’s David Brittlesbee emerges as the new commander of Mythic Quest, ably filling the enormous shoes of Ian and Poppy. Furthermore, Danny Pudi’s Brad Bakshi, who served time for insider trading, gets released from prison and is met with elation by his friends and family. For even more comic relief, the creator of Mythic Quest is not happy with the idea of bringing the narrative of the company’s inception to the big screen with Joe Manganiello playing the role of Ian.
The teaser suggests that the antics that won the show and its original fan base will return in full force this year. Similarities to the vibe of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia are to be expected given that McElhenney and Charlie Day are responsible for both programmes’ creation. Whoever writes It’s Always Sunny, Megan Ganz’s involvement in Mythic Quest provides a unifying thread for viewers who can’t get enough of the show’s outlandish storylines. McElhenney and Day, on behalf of their RCG, have joined the executive producing team alongside Michael Rotenberg and Nicholas Frenkel of 3Arts, Jason Altman, Danielle Kreinik, and Gérard Guillemot of Ubisoft Film and Television, and Hornsby and Ganz.
