According to Deadline, Amazon Freevee is adapting Jessica Simpson’s best-selling novel Open Book with Katelynn Tarver and John Stamos in the lead roles. In the pilot, we will meet Sadie Sparrow’s (Tarver) family, friends, and lovers as we watch her journey to fame from “ingenue to mogul” in the music industry. The film will also include discussions of such topics as romantic relationships, friendship, family, sisterhood, partnerships, soul connections, and even the entertainment industry. Sadie Tarver, played by Tarver, has maintained a “nice girl” façade throughout her childhood, but as the pressures of fame increase, her wild side begins to show.
Sadie must decide if she should play it safe as the drama intensifies and her career is on the line, or if she should start violating the rules to protect what’s important to her. It’s at this point that she resolves to accept herself and the truth that her heart always wants what it wants. Stamos, a former Full House cast member, will portray Butch Thorn, a divorced former singer-songwriter who drinks excessively, has a history of self-destructive behaviour, and is dangerously charismatic despite this.
When he finds out that Sadie is the young pop sensation he is expected to compose songs with, the situation becomes unpleasant. Emmy-nominated As of right now, Stamos co-stars with Nell Verlaque and Jessalyn Gilsig on the Disney+ comedy Big Shot, the second season of which will launch in a few of weeks. His other works include the critically acclaimed Netflix drama You, written and directed by Greg Berlanti, and the Full House spinoff, Fuller House, which he executive produced for the same service.
Tarver’s resume includes such films as Ballers and Famous in Love in addition to the acclaimed The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Tom Kapinos (Californication, Lucifer) penned the script for the pilot, while Adam Bernstein (Californication, Billions, Better Call Saul) will helm the episode. The pair will also serve as executive producers. Moran and PKM Productions, together with Amazon Studios, serve as executive producers for Open Book. Furthermore, Jessica Simpson, Lauren Auslander, and Lacy Lynch serve as executive producers.
Fans would be looking forward to the film adaptation of Simpson’s narrative given the great cast and crew working on it. Open Book, her autobiography, was the highest-grossing book by a female entertainment celebrity upon its release, selling over half a million copies in 14 weeks across 121 countries. Open Book has thus far only been teased with a smattering of information.
