According to Variety, the forthcoming third season of the Canadian Hulu smash The Hardy Boys will be its last adaptation of the popular children’s mystery book series of the same name. Also, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin’s Bailee Madison is said to be joining the show for the last few episodes. Production for the third season has begun in Toronto and other locations in Ontario. The television show The Hardy Boys was adapted from a successful book series of the same name. The Hardy brothers, played by Rohan Campbell and Alexander Elliot, are a pair of amateur detectives who, with the aid of their pals, solve mysteries in their hometown of Bridgeport throughout the book series.
Edward Stratemeyer developed the characters, and between 1927 and 2005, a total of 190 volumes in the series (not including spin-offs) were written by various ghostwriters under the pen name “Franklin W. Dixon.” Because of this, the creators of the series have a lot to work with. After their mother’s untimely death, the Hardy boys migrate from the metropolis to the little town of Bridgeport and pick up where she left off by exploring a mystery. Drew Darrow, the role Madison will play on the programme, is described as “a delightful but often difficult new ally with a sharp intellect and thirst for magic and mysteries.”
Madison has starred in a wide variety of films and television shows, including the current blockbuster Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin on HBOMax, as well as the films The Strangers: Prey at Night and Just Go With It and the television shows Trophy Wife and The Fosters. As previously announced, Madison will be joining the returning cast of the show with veterans Campbell, Elliot, Keana Lyn, Adam Swain, Cristian Perry, Riley O’Donnell, and Krista Nasaire. Currently, you can watch the first two seasons of The Hardy Boys on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ in Canada and other countries around the world. There are plans for the final season to broadcast on Hulu in the United States and on YTV and STACKTV in Canada sometime in 2019.
Nelvana and Lambert Productions, a division of Corus Entertainment, are responsible for developing The Hardy Boys. Nelvana President Pam Westman released the following statement towards the conclusion of the series: “From the very beginning, it has been a pleasure to collaborate with Lambur Productions, Hulu, and YTV on ‘The Hardy Boys,’ and to present these beloved characters and exciting adventures to a whole new audience. The legendary Hardy Boys escapades were brought to life by an outstanding cast and crew, who received widespread praise and several honours. We’re excited to give fans one more dose of mystery-solving action, twists, and chuckles as we bring this mystery to a close.
