Part 2 of “Dune” Gets New Release Window of Early November 2023

At the conclusion of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, Zendaya’s character, Chani, said, “This is merely the beginning.” Dune: Part Two, the sequel, has shifted its 2023 release date ahead a few weeks, which is great news for those eager to return to Arrakis. Walt Disney Studios has temporarily halted pre-production on its Blade picture, therefore Warner Bros. has quickly announced that Dune: Part Two will replace Blade on the November 3, 2023 release date. The release date of Dune 2 was postponed from its planned November 17th, 2023 date. Despite being included in HBO Max’s day-and-date release plan, the first Dune picture opened at the Venice Film Festival last year and made over $401 million worldwide, including $108 million in the US market.

We can confidently declare Dune a critical success because of its 83% approval rating from critics and even greater 90% approval rating from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. It was nominated for ten Oscars total, including Best Picture, and it won home six, including Best Visual Effects and Best Original Score (for the great Hans Zimmer). The first half of Frank Herbert’s 1965 science fiction classic novel Dune was made into the film Dune in 2021. Following the death of his father, Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) continues to take charge and join forces with the Fremen in the sequel.

Written by Jon Spaihts, Eric Roth, and Denis Villeneuve, with contributions from Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Dave Bautista, Josh Brolin, and Javier Bardem, and featuring an all-star cast that also includes Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Léa Seydoux, and Christopher Walken, Dune: Part Two is a Legendary Pictures production distributed by Warner Bros. Additionally, cinematographer Greig Fraser, editor Joe Walker, and composer Hans Zimmer will all return for the sequel. The success of Villeneuve’s Dune sequel in terms of reviews, box office, and awards season is still up in the air, but we’ll have a better idea two weeks earlier.

On November 3, 2023, moviegoers will be able to see Dune Part 2.
