The highly-anticipated Christmas musical comedy Spirited, starring Will Ferrell, Ryan Reynolds, and Octavia Spencer has a brand-new teaser trailer, released by Apple Original Films. On November 11, 2022, around a month before Christmas, the film will have its theatrical debut, and a week later, on November 18, it will be accessible to stream on Apple TV+. Spirited flips the classic tale of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol on its head by focusing on Will Ferrell’s Ghost of Christmas Present rather than a contemporary Scrooge (though there are certainly people like that in the world today).
In the narrative, the spirit is shown engaging in his annual duty of rehabilitating a troubled soul on Christmas Eve. Reynolds plays a guy called Clint Briggs in this instalment. A seemingly mundane task turns into an opportunity for Briggs to teach the festive ghost a lesson about himself by making him reflect on his own life and history. The 91-second clip gives us a glimpse of the visuals we can expect to see as we investigate the timeless symbol of the Christmas season. The forthcoming Christmas comedy picture also stars Sunita Mani, Patrick Page, Joe Tippett, Marlow Barkley, and Jen Tullock in addition to Will Ferrell, Ryan Reynolds, and Octavia Spencer.
Oscar-winning songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul of La La Land will provide all-new original music for the film, while Chloe Arnold (The Late Late Show with James Corden) will choreograph production numbers. Director and co-writer Sean Anders (Daddy’s Home) worked with John Morris on the screenplay. In addition to directing, writing, and starring in Spirited, the two are also producing it through their company, Two Grown Men, along with Will Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum for Gloria Sanchez Productions, and David Koplan and George Dewey for Maximum Effort Productions. Additionally, Paul and Pasek will join Diana Pokorny as executive producers. On November 11, Spirited will open in cinemas, and on November 18, it will be made available to stream on Apple TV+.
Synopsis
On Christmas Eve, the Spirit of Christmas Yet to Come (Will Ferrell) chooses one lost person to be visited by three heavenly beings in an effort to change their ways. But he chose the wrong Scrooge this holiday season. Once Present begins to question his own history, present, and future, Clint Briggs (Ryan Reynolds) flips the script. This humorous musical takes the famous Dickens story “A Christmas Carol” and flips it on its head by telling it from the perspective of the ghosts.
