You’re going to have to watch the new trailer for Season 3 of Star Trek: Picard many times to get everything. There’s a lot of action, a lot of emotion, and a lot of new and returning characters. On Star Trek Day last month, Paramount released the first trailer for Star Trek: Picard’s third and final season. In the preview, we discovered that Beverly Crusher’s distress call serves as the catalyst for the Next Generation crew to reunite in Season 3.
The first glimpse at Beverly and Picard reunited, the season’s new adversary (played by the famous Amanda Plummer), and Mica Burton’s portrayal of her father’s daughter (Ensign Alandra La Forge) can be seen in the video unveiled today during the Star Trek Universe panel at New York Comic-Con. Each new disclosure in the new video ups the ante on the gripping final journey for these beloved characters, and you will find yourself gasping at every turn. Brent Spiner has played an entirely new role in each season of Star Trek: Picard thus far. Spiner has blended in well because of his recurring role as numerous Soong family members on TNG.
Both Data and his ancestor Adam Soong were played by him: in Season 1 as the adored android Data and in Season 2 as Data’s ancestor. Spiner, along with the rest of the Next Generation cast, has been confirmed to return for Season 3, but his involvement has been kept under wraps until now. Spiner is revealed to be returning as Data’s evil twin android Lore in the trailer’s final seconds. In the latest teaser, we also see the return of another old foe, not named Lore. Star Trek: The Next Generation brought the holo-novel character Professor Moriarty to life, and the new footage confirms that Daniel Davis will reprise his role as the villainous figure.
From Picard’s frantic hunt for Beverly to Deanna Troi’s empathic senses amplifying the ominous aura of their new opponent to Worf’s newfound pacifism and Riker’s ever-charming wisecracks, the video offers enough substance for fans anxiously anticipating the return of the TNG team. In addition to Worf and Raffi, Seven and Raffi play prominent roles in the new clip, which features an intriguing new relationship between the two.
Patrick Stewart, LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis, and Brent Spiner were all present for the Star Trek Universe panel at New York Comic Con to promote Season 3 of Picard.
Alex Kurtzman, Terry Matalas, and Rod Roddenberry, the show’s executive producers, joined the ensemble onstage. Matalas isn’t just the showrunner for Season 3; he’s also a writer. Season 3 of Include Trek: Picard will also star Jeri Ryan and Michelle Hurd in addition to the returning characters from Star Trek: The Next Generation. The series’ final episodes will stream on Paramount+ every Thursday starting on February 16, 2023.
