Star Trek: Prodigy will be returning soon after what seems like an agonisingly long delay. The most family-friendly season of the franchise debuted over a year ago and was interrupted after the eleventh episode for a midseason break. On October 27, Paramount+ will begin airing the final ten episodes of the first season. Today during the Star Trek Universe panel at New York Comic-Con, the show debuted a new teaser trailer for Part 2 of Season 1. Kate Mulgrew, who plays Admiral Janeway, was present at the discussion along with Brett Gray, who plays the youthful Captain Dal, and Jameela Jamil from She-Hulk, who plays Ensign Asencio, a new member of Janeway’s crew.
Executive producers Kevin and Dan Hageman, Alex Kurtzman, Rod Roddenberry, and Ben Hibon, who also acts as the show’s director, were there in addition to the cast. The dramatic escape they made in the tenth episode of the programme has been a few weeks ago, Dal informs the viewer in the new teaser. The Dal and his young crew have their minds set on joining Starfleet after spending time aboard the Protostar learning about Starfleet under the watchful eye of holographic Janeway.
The youthful crew of Captain Chakotay’s ship realises they may have to say goodbye to their hopes of joining the federation as Admiral Janway closes in on them. Captain Chakotay was her former first officer and a close personal friend. Despite their issues with Janeway, Dal and his companions are still committed to using the ship to spread goodwill as they travel and discover new, weird worlds. The new trailer also promises additional fun in addition to an intriguing mystery as Zero tells Gwen she won’t stop until she recovers her memory and holographic Janway cracks jokes. Star Trek is demonstrating once more that there is something in the cosmos for everyone and that, as long as we cooperate, we can do amazing things. Prodigy is unquestionably a must-watch series for any fan of the genre, despite being aimed at a younger demographic.
During today’s event, it was also made known that Ronny Cox, a veteran Star Trek actor, will be joining the Prodigy cast to play Captain Jellico, now Admiral Jellico, much as he did on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Billy Campbell, who was slated to reprise his role as the Outrageous Okona on Star Trek Day last month, joins Cox as a former Star Trek: The Next Generation performer on the animated series. Mulgrew, Gray, Jamil, Cox, and Campbell are joined by Ella Purnell, Rylee Alazraqui, Angus Imrie, Jason Matzoukas, Dee Bradley Baker, John Noble, Jimmi Simpson, Daveed Diggs, Jason Alexander, Robert Beltran in the second half of Star Trek: Prodigy Season 1. Beginning on October 27, the final ten episodes of Season 1 of Star Trek: Prodigy will only be available on Paramount+ and air every Thursday.
