Overview of One Piece Chapter 1062
The melting of Cacao Island is depicted on the cover of One Piece Chapter 1062, which is titled “Adventure in the Land of Science.” After the events of the last chapter, the surviving members of the Straw Hat Pirates on the Thousand Sunny were shocked to see the famed Dr Vegapunk standing in front of them. Robin tries to calm everyone down when Franky and the others are freaking out about seeing the famed Dr Vegapunk by saying that she had no idea Vegapunk was a woman. Robin claims that Dr Vegapunk has been practising for a long time, which is at odds with how young the lady in front of them seems.
Vegapunk then backs up Robin’s claims. Punk-02, Vegapunk Lilith, is not Dr Vegapunk’s primary Stella body, although she does appear in front of the Straw Hat Pirates. Lilith, the Vegapunk, tries to negotiate the Straw Hats’ departure from the island with them. Nami finally tells her she can’t have the rescued people’s goods since she needs the money for her studies. Nami argued with Vegapunk Lilith, but she insisted that they would be doomed if they did not agree to her requirements. The Straw Hat Pirates are suddenly surrounded by marine creatures that have been militarised. Franky is ecstatic, but Usopp, Sanji, and Brook are petrified by what they witness. Suddenly, Vegapunk Lilith’s headpiece rang with an incoming call. The caller is upset that she vanished while scavenging for supplies.
Vegapunk Lilith informed the caller that the Straw Hat Pirates, now renamed the Emperor’s Crew, were being held captive and showing no signs of surrender. She adds that the Straw Hats have a treasure chest full of goodies that can be sold to raise money for scientific exploration. Despite Vegapunk Lilith’s best efforts to explain herself, the caller still insists that she has committed a major error. The caller warns that she is in grave danger from Zoro and Nico Robin, who may kill her in a heartbeat. Because of the way Franky, Sanji, Usopp, and Brook treated her, Vegapunk Lilith comes to the conclusion that she was duped by the Straw Hats. Zoro has already captured her and won’t release her until she gives him what he wants, so it’s too late. In the end, Punk-01 Dr Vegapunk Shaka (Logic) tells Vegapunk Lilith to always bring Straw Hats.
But Luffy is talking to Jewelry Bonney about her time on Egghead Island. Bonney claims that after being exposed to Vegapunk, her father was turned into a soulless cyborg who serves as a weapon. Bonney went to Egghead Island because she wanted to find out why.
After making their way up from a cave system, Bonney, Luffy, and the rest of their crew finally reach the island’s surface. Bonney forgets to disclose that she met Sabo in Mary Geoise while Luffy and Chopper are too distracted by the robots, monsters, and other surface-level rubbish to notice. The giant objects on Egghead Island are visible to Luffy and the others, but they cannot be touched. Luffy really strikes his skull when he jumps through the space monster’s gaping maw.
This also happened when one of them dove into a large parfait that had been left unattended. To Luffy’s dismay, Jinbe and Bonney figure out that what they’re seeing are 3D holograms. Even though Egghead Island is meant to be tropical, Jinbe notes that it is really cold. Huge Punk-06 doctor Vegapunk Atlas (Wrath) suddenly materialises to address Jinbe’s inquiries. To test if the robot in front of them was a hologram, Luffy struck Vegapunk Atlas, only to be hit in the face by an unmanned cooking gadget. Luffy, Chopper, and Bonney were ecstatic to see the contraption emit a wide range of tasty delicacies. While Vegapunk Atlas rants about the lack of funds for her studies, Luffy and the others chow down, leaving just Jinbe interested in her tales. A self-proclaimed “scientific genius for hire,” Vegapunk Atlas presents herself to Luffy and the gang. But Bonney was really taken aback by it.
Meanwhile, aboard the battleship of the World Government in the New World, Rob Lucci, Stussy, and Kaku speculate on who Dr Vegapunk really is. According to Kaku, Vegapunk is actually just one individual who has been functionally split into six different entities for the sake of convenience. As far as Kaku can tell, Dr Vegapunk has six satellites: Shaka (Logic), Lilith (Evil), Edison (Flair), Pythagoras (Wisdom), Atlas (Wrath), and Yoke (Desire). Rob Lucci exposes the Cipher Pol Aigis 0 Masked Assassins’ plot to return Bartholomew Kuma to Egghead Island, kill every single Vegapunk, and spare the lab’s expensive equipment just before the chapter closes. Rob Lucci is distracted by thoughts of the Lulusia tragedy, but Stussy and Kaku are quick to stop him from endangering the team.
