The third instalment of the Hercule Poirot film series has new information that fans of the series may delight in. 20th Century Studios confirmed that Kenneth Branagh will return to direct the upcoming film, as reported by Variety. With Branagh playing detective Poirot in the supernatural thriller A Haunting in Venice, which is based on Agatha Christie’s book “Halloween Party,” an A-list cast also includes Tina Fey (Soul), Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All At Once), Jamie Dornan (Synchronic), Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin (Call My Agent), Jude Hill, Ali Khan, Emma Lair (John Wick: Chapter 2). (Chapter 2 of John Wick).
The movie centres on remarkable events that happened on All Hallows’ Eve in Venice after World War II.
After considerable persuasion, Hercule Poirot agrees to go to a séance where he will finally have to revive his sleuthing skills in order to solve a murder that happens over the course of the evening’s activities. When it becomes clear that the location of this séance is a haunted palazzo that conceals mysteries that no one seems to be aware of, Poirot, who now enjoys a quiet life after a self-imposed retirement, springs into action. Following their productive and Oscar-winning work on the coming-of-age drama Belfast, Dornan and Hill will reunite with Branagh on the set. It’s hardly surprising that the creative minds behind Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile have once again teamed together after the success of the previous adaptations.
The writing will once more be contributed by Michael Green. Louise Killin and James Prichard serve as executive producers, and Judy Hofflund, Ridley Scott, Simon Kinberg, and Mark Gordon all serve as producers.
In regards to the impending movie, 20th Century Studios President Steve Asbell comments; “It is a great honour for us to carry on our long-standing collaboration with the amazing Sir Kenneth Branagh, and we are incredibly inspired by the bold, risk-taking creative direction that Ken, Michael, and the rest of the filmmaking team have chosen for their most recent work. We also like to express our gratitude to James Prichard and the rest of the Agatha Christie, Ltd. team for their cooperation and for once more entrusting us with what Poirot modestly calls “perhaps the best investigator in the world.”
In 2023, the movie is expected to have its national theatrical debut. The first day of production is set to be October 31, Halloween. Venice, Italy, and Pinewood Studios in London are among the filming locations.
