Here’s some good news if you like the film adaptation of Let the Right One In and are thinking about subscribing to Showtime so you can see the series. The network is providing early access to the series for free via its online streaming platforms and on demand. If you’re already a subscriber and can’t wait for the show’s official release date of October 7 to roll around, you won’t be left out of the early access. For the last year and a half since the series was given the green light, eager viewers have waited for news in the form of casting announcements and trailers.
Showtime’s adaption, which began as a Swedish novel and ended up as a film in 2008, seems to be staying quite true to its origins, with only a few minor changes. The plot centres on Mark (Demián Bichir, A Better Life) and his daughter Eleanor, and it’s a great metaphor for the difficulties of families and the bonds that unite us all (Madison Taylor Baez, Selena: The Series). They appear to be an ordinary family, yet a sinister secret lies behind the scenes. Ten years before the story’s commencement, 12-year-old Eleanor was transformed into a vampire and was afterwards confined to the house, leaving only at night.
Mark, a loving and responsible parent who struggles with the moral dilemmas they confront on a daily basis because of his daughter Eleanor, searches for ways to acquire human blood so that she can continue living. While much of the original project’s storyline will be used, the tale written by Andrew Hinderaker diverges significantly from the source material. Those familiar with the story’s origins may recall that the vampire girl does not actually live with her biological father but with a distant relative.
The father and daughter combination actively seeks for the vampire who sired Eleanor to locate the girl’s cure, thus there is hope for a resolution to their ailment in the series. Showrunner and Executive Producer Hinderaker is also involved in the production. Director Seith Mann, whose previous work includes episodes of The Wire and Grey’s Anatomy, will be co-executive producing the series alongside Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, and Alissa Bachner, in addition to directing many episodes. Along with starring, Bichir serves as a producer on the show with stars including Anika Noni Rose (Power), Grace Gummer (Mr Robot), Kevin Carroll (Snowfall), Ian Foreman (Merry Wish-Mas), Jacob Buster (Colony), and Nick Stahl.
