western film The Last Manhunt, which will star Jason Momoa as a violent bounty hunter, has released a teaser. The movie will be based on actual events and depict the tale of the final manhunt in the Wild West during the early 1900s. In it, we meet Willie Boy (Martin Sensmeier), a young guy in love who wants nothing more than to spend his days in peace with his sweetheart Carlota (Mainei Kinimaka). Carlota’s father (Zahn McClarnon) isn’t thrilled about the wedding. Willie mistakenly shoots and kills Carlota’s father one night after an argument between the two. Willie and Carlota flee the area since he is sure to be caught for murder if he remains.
A bounty has been placed on his head, so the pair will have to avoid not only the perils of the desert but also outlaws and sheriffs. The individual is apparently being suspected of kidnapping in addition to murder, which will attract both honest men and bounty hunters looking to collect a reward. The oral history of the Chemehuevi people, who live in the region of Morongo Valley, Joshua Tree, and Yucca Valley in California, served as inspiration for The Last Manhunt.
This new Western is paying homage to its Native American roots by casting almost all Native American actors, as shown in the teaser. Sensmeier, Kinimaka, McClarnon, Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon) as Carlota’s mom, Raoul Trujillo (Apocalypto), Brandon Oakes (Togo), and Tantoo Cardinal are just some of the Native American actors in the cast (Dances with Wolves). The trailer’s intriguing square structure is another feature of the plot that feels reminiscent of the past. A slow-burning art-house Western this is not. The trailer promises hundreds of gunfights in the desert as the hunters try to outdo each other in capturing their quarry.
Christian Camargo (See), Wade Williams (The Dark Knight Rises), Jamie Sives (Chernobyl), Justin Campbell (The Hurt Locker), Mojean Aria (Reminiscence), Charlie Brumbly (Baywatch), and Amy Seimetz all star in The Last Manhunt (Pet Sematary). Christian Camargo, the film’s director, also appears in the film in the role of a sheriff. In this photo, Momoa and Thomas Pa’a Sibbett sign the script. On November 18, 2022, theatres, streaming services, and VOD platforms will all have access to The Last Manhunt.
Synopsis
A young Native American in the old west was banned to be with his beloved, the daughter of the tribe chief. Due to an argument, the young native ends up shooting his father to death. The couple runs away to the Mohave Desert from the sheriff’s armed mounted posse and two Native American trackers.
