Rian Johnson’s “Poker Face” Cast, Release Date, Synopsis & More

Rian Johnson’s new series Poker Face on Peacock has expanded its cast with the addition of a few more celebrities. Deadline reports that Rhea Perlman, Chelsea Frei, and Rowan Blanchard have joined the Natasha Lyonne-led series. Character and narrative specifics for the show are being kept under wraps, so it’s impossible to say what their roles will be.
Among his many television credits, Perlman is most widely recognised for his appearances in the comedies Taxi and Cheers. The Mindy Project and Star Wars: The Bad Batch are two of her latest TV appearances.

Also, you may recognise Perlman from his cinematic appearances in Matilda and Sing. She will then be seen in the forthcoming Barbie film from Warner Bros., as well as the Netflix comedy You People, directed by Kenya Barris. The Moodys, an aborted Fox comedy series; Dollface, an original series on Hulu; and The Cleaning Lady, also on Hulu; all include Frei as an actor. For Freeform, she’ll be seen in the upcoming drama series While You Were Breeding. Blanchard is most well-known for her role in Girl Meets World, the Disney Channel’s remake of Boy Meets World and the show in which she starred.

Most recently, he co-starred alongside Auli’i Cravalho in the Hulu romantic comedy Crush. He also appeared in an episode of TNT’s Snowpiercer. Johnson is attached as both writer and director for Poker Face. The show will be co-run by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.). Alongside Lyonne, Maya Rudolph, Danielle Renfrew Behren, Ram Bergman, and Nena Rodrigue, the trio will also serve as executive producers. Although Johnson has directed episodes of shows like Breaking Bad and Terriers, Poker Face is his first time scripting a TV series.

Johnson is well-known in the film industry for his contributions to blockbusters including Looper, Brick, The Last Jedi, and Knives Out. The sequel to his 2019 film Knives Out, titled Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, will debut on Netflix on December 23. Adrien Brody, Angel Desai, Audrey Corsa, Benjamin Bratt, Charles Melton, Cherry Jones, Chloe Sevigny, Clea DuVall, Danielle MacDonald, Dascha Polanco, Ellen Barkin, Jasmine Aiyana Garvin, Jameela Jamil, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Judith Light will be joined by newcomers Ron Perlman, Ben Frei, and Tammy Blanchard. Lil Rel Howery, Luis Guzman, Niall Cunningham, Tim Meadows, S. Epatha Merkerson, Simon Helberg, Nick Nolte, Brandon Michael Hall, Colton Ryan, Megan Suri, and many others have already been named as cast members.
There is currently no set date for Poker Face by Peacock.
